Question 1

How do I tell if a listing is for agricultural produce or a processed food product?

Accepted Answer

The sub-category determines the inspection regime and packing standards required for transport. Agricultural listings often require raw material specifications like soil origin and harvest date, while processed food products need manufacturing batch numbers and expiration dates. Misclassifying the branch leads to incorrect documentation requests from customs.

Question 2

What happens if I file a manuka honey listing under industrial goods instead of food?

Accepted Answer

Industrial listings lack the mandatory food safety declarations and allergen information required for human consumption. Buyers expecting edible grade will receive quotes for non-food grade products or face rejection at customs due to missing health certificates. The correct branch ensures the seller provides the right technical data sheet.

Question 3

Which phytosanitary certificate applies to milk powder exports from New Zealand?

Accepted Answer

Dairy products require a veterinary health certificate confirming pasteurization and absence of specific pathogens. The certificate must be signed by an authorized inspector and accompany the shipment through the entire transit chain. Buyers should verify the certificate format matches their country's import regulations before placing an order.

Question 4

How does the Propolis Softgel Capsules listing differ from raw honey in packing requirements?

Accepted Answer

Softgel capsules require sealed, light-resistant packaging to maintain potency during transit, whereas raw honey needs moisture-proof containers to prevent fermentation. The listing should specify whether the product is bulk packed or retail ready. Packaging failures in either category result in product degradation or contamination during the voyage.

Question 5

What specification defines the quality tier of Honey Clover Creamed in these listings?

Accepted Answer

Quality is defined by the crystallization texture and floral source purity stated in the trade specification. Buyers look for terms describing grain size and moisture limits that affect spreadability. The listing must explicitly state the grade used by local traders to ensure consistency with previous orders.

Question 6

Why do two milk powder listings with the same name show different prices?

Accepted Answer

Price differences reflect variations in fat content, protein levels, and packaging format specified in the trade terms. One lot may be bulk packed for industrial use while another is small-scale retail ready. Buyers must compare the actual compositional standards rather than just the product name to understand the cost difference.

Question 7

What goes wrong after the goods have shipped if the cold chain is broken?

Accepted Answer

Temperature excursions cause spoilage of perishable items like honey or dairy products before they reach the buyer. The damage is often invisible until the goods are unpacked at the destination warehouse. Buyers should require temperature log data from the carrier to verify proper handling during transit.
