Question 1

How do I distinguish between raw botanicals and processed supplements in the Agriculture Products branch?

Accepted Answer

Look for the processing stage described in the listing. Raw botanicals like dried leaves or roots are sold in bulk packs. Processed items like Propolis Softgel Capsules are finished goods with specific packaging. The listing title usually indicates if the product is finished. Buyers sourcing raw materials should avoid listings for finished capsules. Processed items have different storage and handling requirements than raw crops.

Question 2

What is the key difference between sourcing raw manuka honey and finished honey products?

Accepted Answer

Raw manuka honey is a bulk commodity subject to specific grading scales for potency and moisture. Finished honey products like Honey Avocado Creamed are blended and packaged. The listing for raw honey will focus on the active component levels. Finished products list ingredients and allergens. Buyers must check if the listing is for the raw extract or the consumer-ready blend.

Question 3

Why can't I compare a quote for raw herbs with one for Fertilizers?

Accepted Answer

These products have completely different regulatory and handling needs. Raw herbs require phytosanitary certification and moisture control. Fertilizers are chemical inputs with safety data sheets and hazardous material classifications. The shipping terms and insurance costs differ significantly. A quote for one cannot be compared to the other. Select the correct branch to ensure you are comparing like with like.

Question 4

What packing standard applies to living plants in Flowers And Plants Related Products?

Accepted Answer

Living plants require specific ventilation and temperature control during transit. The listing should state the potting medium and container type. Bulky or bare-root plants have different handling requirements. Buyers must check if the seller provides the necessary phytosanitary certificate for live export. Standard bulk packing is not suitable for living stock. Verify the packaging details before requesting a quote.

Question 5

How does sourcing Licorice extract differ from sourcing the raw Licorice root?

Accepted Answer

Raw Licorice root is a bulk agricultural product graded by size and moisture. Extracted forms like Herb Bright Face Oil are processed with specific concentrations. The listing for the oil will detail the carrier and active ingredients. Raw root listings focus on the botanical grade. Buyers must determine if they need the raw material for further processing or the finished extract.

Question 6

What documentation is mandatory for exporting agricultural goods from New Zealand?

Accepted Answer

Phytosanitary certificates are required for most plant-based products. The listing may not always state this, so buyers must ask. New Zealand authorities issue these certificates after inspection. The seller must confirm they can provide this document for the specific product. Without it, the shipment may be rejected at the destination. Verify this capability before finalizing the order.

Question 7

What goes wrong if I source finished cosmetics under raw Agriculture Products?

Accepted Answer

Finished cosmetics like face oils are regulated as consumer goods, not raw crops. They require different labeling and safety standards. Sourcing them under raw categories can lead to customs delays. The listing for raw products will not include ingredient lists or allergen warnings. Buyers should use the correct branch for finished goods to ensure compliance. Check the product type carefully before enquiring.
