Rebreathable masks with the protection class FFP3 provide the highest level of defense against air pollution. They must filter 99% of all particles less than 0.6 m, with the overall leakage limited to a maximum of 5%. Additionally filtering radioactive, cancer-causing, and toxic particles are this type of mask. A higher level of dust is protected from using FFP3 Dust Masks. Aerosols that are solid or liquid are also protected. Up to 50x OEL or 20x APF of material concentrations are protected from using FFP3 masks. They offer defense against extremely small particles like asbestos with a minimum filtering percentage of 99%. The filtering efficiency of FFP2 and N95 masks is rather comparable. The primary distinction is that FFP2 adheres to the European EN 149 standard whereas N95 adheres to the American NIOSH standard. While N95 must capture at least 95% of airborne particles, FFP2 must capture at least 94% of them.
