How do screen size and moisture content change the usable yield for dried apricots?

Screen size determines the number of pieces per kilogram, which affects how you pack the container and price the unit. Moisture content directly impacts the final weight because water evaporates or is lost during transit. If the moisture content is higher than your destination MRL lists allow, the lot will be rejected. You need the exact moisture percentage to calculate the true weight that will arrive at your warehouse, not just the weight on the invoice.

What distinguishes pitted red apricots from unpitted organic varieties in terms of processing?

Pitted red apricots have already undergone the stone removal process, which increases the volume per kilogram and changes the packing density. Unpitted organic varieties retain the stone, which affects the weight distribution and the final yield of edible meat. The organic status requires specific documentation to prove the absence of synthetic pesticides, which must match your destination MRL lists. You must check if the seller provides the organic certificate alongside the phytosanitary certificate.

Why is the phytosanitary certificate critical for walnut shipments from Tajikistan?

The phytosanitary certificate proves that the walnuts are free from regulated pests and diseases, which is a mandatory requirement for entry. It must align with the fumigation on loading proof to show that the treatment was applied correctly. Without this certificate, the shipment will be held or destroyed at the destination port. The certificate also serves as evidence of the crop year, which buyers use to verify the freshness of the lot.

How does container stuffing weight limit affect bulk dried fruit quotes?

Container stuffing weight limits determine the maximum volume you can load based on the density of the product. Bulk shipments are limited by weight, while bagged shipments are limited by volume and palletization. If the moisture content is high, the weight increases, potentially exceeding the container limit and forcing you to ship fewer units. This directly impacts the landed cost per kilogram and the efficiency of the load.

What proof of fumigation on loading applies to dried apricots?

Fumigation on loading proof is a document that confirms the treatment was applied to the container before it was sealed. This proof must match the phytosanitary certificate to satisfy destination entry requirements. Without this proof, the customs authority in your country may reject the shipment due to pest concerns. You should request this document before payment to ensure the lot meets your destination MRL lists and pest regulations.

How does the crop year impact the valuation of walnuts?

The crop year indicates when the nuts were harvested, which affects their oil content and shelf life. Older crops may have higher rancidity levels, which reduces their value and marketability. Buyers use the crop year to verify that the product is fresh and meets their quality standards. A quote for an older crop should be discounted compared to the current harvest, reflecting the reduced quality and shorter remaining shelf life.

What role does moisture content play in the transit of dried fruit?

Moisture content determines the weight and stability of the product during inland haulage and sea transit. High moisture content can lead to mold growth or clumping, which damages the product and complicates unloading. You must verify the moisture content against your destination MRL lists to ensure the lot is acceptable. Lower moisture content reduces the risk of spoilage but may also indicate over-drying, which can affect the texture and price.
