Question 1

How does the lump size specification on a charcoal row affect my briquette machine settings?

Accepted Answer

The physical dimensions of the charcoal lumps determine whether they fit your processing equipment. If the listing states a specific diameter or size range for the hardwood charcoal, you must verify it matches your crusher or briquette press input. Using oversized lump charcoal can jam your machinery, while fines may not bind correctly. Always cross-reference the size spec with your machine's manual before ordering.

Question 2

What specific phytosanitary document does my country require for imported hardwood charcoal?

Accepted Answer

Your destination country likely requires a phytosanitary certificate proving the charcoal has been treated to prevent pest transfer. This document is issued by the agricultural authority in Nigeria and must accompany the shipment. You must request this certificate from the seller before payment, as it is mandatory for customs clearance. Without it, the fuel will be rejected or destroyed at your port.

Question 3

Why does a Premium Shisha charcoal listing expire faster than a generic bulk row?

Accepted Answer

Specialty products like hookah charcoal are often produced in smaller batches and sold quickly to niche buyers. A listing for Premium Shisha Hardwood Charcoal may expire rapidly because the seller has limited stock of that specific odorless grade. If the posting date is more than a few weeks old, the price is likely outdated or the item is sold out. Ask for current availability immediately.

Question 4

Who pays for the truck from the kiln to the Apapa port under FOB terms?

Accepted Answer

Under FOB terms, the seller is responsible for getting the goods onto the vessel, but inland haulage from the production site to the port is often a separate cost. You must clarify if the quoted price includes this trucking or if you need to arrange it. Misunderstanding this responsibility can lead to unexpected fees or delays in getting the charcoal loaded onto the ship.

Question 5

What establishes the order minimum for a specific grade of Ayin Hardwood Charcoal?

Accepted Answer

The minimum order quantity is set by the seller based on their production batch size and logistics efficiency. For a specific grade like Ayin Hardwood, the seller may require a full container load to make the shipment viable. Check the row for the stated minimum unit, such as metric tons or containers, to see if it aligns with your storage capacity and cash flow.

Question 6

What should I verify about the ash content before paying a deposit on restaurant grade charcoal?

Accepted Answer

Ash content directly impacts how often you need to clean your grills or ovens. Before paying any deposit, request the latest lab test result for the specific batch of restaurant grade charcoal you intend to buy. High ash levels can ruin the dining experience for your customers. Ensure the spec on the test report matches the claim on the listing row.

Question 7

What is the costliest wrong assumption when buying Sparkless charcoal for indoor venues?

Accepted Answer

Assuming all sparkless charcoal is safe for indoor use without verifying the ventilation requirements is dangerous. You must confirm that the specific product meets the safety standards for your venue's air quality regulations. If the charcoal produces excessive smoke or carbon monoxide due to poor quality, you face liability issues. Always ask for the safety data sheet before committing funds.
