How does ash or silica content in PS Block scrap affect processing costs?

Ash and silica content represent inert material that does not contribute to the final polymer product. High levels increase waste disposal costs and reduce the yield of usable resin during reprocessing. Buyers calculate the net value by subtracting the cost of removing these impurities from the gross scrap price. Listings must state these percentages clearly, as they directly impact the economics of melting and extruding the material.

What distinguishes PE Film scrap from general metal scraps in handling?

PE Film scrap is a plastic polymer, not a metal, and requires different storage and handling protocols. It is lightweight, prone to wind scatter, and can be easily contaminated by foreign debris. Unlike dense metal scraps, it often requires baling for efficient transport and storage. Buyers must verify the purity of the film to ensure it melts cleanly without producing toxic fumes or residues during reprocessing.

Why is the mill test certificate critical for metal product valuation?

The mill test certificate provides the chemical assay and mechanical properties of the metal lot. It verifies that the alloy composition matches the standard designation claimed in the listing. Without this document, buyers cannot confirm if the material will meet their engineering requirements. It serves as the primary evidence for quality and allows for accurate pricing based on verified specifications rather than assumptions.

How does radiation screening impact PET Bottle scrap shipments?

Radiation screening is a standard requirement for certain scrap categories to ensure no radioactive sources are present. PET Bottle scrap must pass this check to clear customs in strict jurisdictions. Failure to provide proof of passing this screening can result in the entire shipment being rejected or destroyed. Buyers should request the screening report from the seller before finalizing any purchase agreement.

What mistake happens if density is ignored for container loading?

Ignoring density leads to underutilizing container volume or exceeding weight limits prematurely. Metal & Metal Products are dense, so they often hit the maximum payload weight before the container is full. This results in paying for unused space. Accurate density data allows buyers to calculate the optimal loading pattern and freight cost per unit, ensuring they do not overpay for air.

How does moisture content in PS Block scrap affect yield?

Moisture content in PS Block scrap must be minimized to prevent defects during melting. Excess water turns to steam, causing voids or bubbles in the final plastic product. Sellers should state the moisture percentage, as high levels require additional drying time and energy, increasing the effective cost for the buyer. Dry material yields higher quality recycled resin with fewer processing issues.

What role does the mineral export licence play in Armenia shipments?

The mineral export licence authorizes the legal removal of specific raw materials from Armenia. It is a mandatory document for customs clearance and proves the shipment complies with national resource regulations. Without this licence, the cargo cannot leave the country, causing significant delays and potential penalties. Buyers must ensure the seller obtains this document before the goods are loaded for export.
