How do I distinguish between raw bentonite clays and processed metal products?

The distinction lies in the physical state and the required documentation. Raw bentonite clays are geological materials traded based on their swelling capacity and chemical composition, requiring assay reports. Processed metal products are fabricated shapes with defined dimensions and mechanical properties, requiring mill certificates. If a listing mentions cat litter or paint production, it is likely a raw mineral application. If it mentions structural profiles or hardware, it is a fabricated metal. Always check the sub-category selection first.

What specification defines the grade for bentonites in paint production?

Bentonites used in paint production are graded by their viscosity, oil absorption, and particle size distribution. These specifications determine how the clay functions as a thickening or suspending agent. Sellers must provide a technical data sheet detailing these physical properties. A generic grade label is insufficient; you need the specific rheological data to ensure compatibility with your formulation. Request the batch-specific test results before finalizing any purchase.

Why is export paperwork different for ores versus processed metals from Armenia?

Armenia issues specific export declarations for raw mineral extracts that may involve customs valuations based on commodity indices. Processed metal products often require certificates of origin and conformity to international standards like ISO or EN. The paperwork chain differs because raw ores are often subject to different environmental and extraction regulations. Buyers must ensure the seller provides the correct documentation for the specific sub-category to avoid delays at border crossings.

What mistake occurs when sourcing bentonite litter under the ores branch?

Sourcing cat litter materials under the raw ores branch often leads to confusion regarding purity and processing levels. Cat litter requires specific washing and granulation processes that raw bentonite does not automatically have. Buyers may receive unprocessed clay that lacks the necessary absorbency or dust control properties. Always verify if the product is raw extract or processed litter material by requesting the specific granulation and dust content specifications.

What does a listing leave out by habit for Metal & Metal Products?

Sellers often omit the specific temper, hardness, or surface finish details in the initial listing title. These physical properties are critical for fabrication and must be confirmed via the mill certificate. A generic title like steel bar does not indicate if the material is annealed, hardened, or cold-drawn. Buyers must explicitly request the mechanical test results to ensure the material meets their structural requirements.

How do packing requirements differ for raw bentonite versus fabricated metals?

Raw bentonite is typically packed in large bulk bags or containers to prevent moisture absorption and clumping. Fabricated metals require rigid palletizing or crating to prevent bending, scratching, or corrosion during transit. The landlocked nature of Armenia means goods face extended road transport, making robust packaging essential for both categories. Specify the exact packing method to ensure the cargo arrives undamaged and ready for immediate use.

What specification separates different grades of processed copper products?

Processed copper products are graded by their conductivity, purity percentage, and mechanical temper. These specifications determine their suitability for electrical wiring or structural components. Sellers must provide mill certificates detailing the exact alloy composition and heat treatment history. A generic description is insufficient; you need the specific technical data to verify the material meets your engineering standards.
