Talc Powder

Talc is a hydrous Magnesium Silicate and its chemical composition would correspond to 63.5% Silica (Si02), 31.7% Magnesia (MgO) and 4.8% water (H20). Talc is an environmentally friendly alternative to chemicals for the Ultraviolet protection of crops reducing water pick-up and mud. In fertilizers, Talcs are outstanding coating agents. It improves fertilizer flow, reducing water pick-up, prevents caking, protecting from crystal bridge formation and reducing dust. Talc is a perfect carrier in feed pre-mixes and agricultural chemicals. Uses: Talc is hydrophobic in nature, meaning that it repels water. As a result, it is used as an anticaking agent in the formulation of fertilizers which prevents the formation of lumps or stickiness. Talc is used in both powdered and granular fertilizers where they make excellent coating agents that prevent fertilizer caking. In the production of animal feed, talc is employed as an anticaking and dispersing agent, and die lubricant. Talc is employed as a carrier in feed premixes and agricultural chemicals such as pesticides. Talc forms a barrier all over the fertilizer granules which limits water pick-up and stops the formation of hydrate crystal bridges allowing products to be stored longer. Talc is also inert and platy. Its smooth and flat lamellae cover each particle helping it to flow freely during fertilizer or feed production. it also protects against dust.
