How does the chemical assay differ between Copper Cathode and Copper Alloy scrap?

Copper Cathode is defined by a high copper percentage with minimal impurities, whereas Copper Alloy scrap contains varying mixes of zinc, tin, or nickel. The assay for cathode focuses on purity levels required for direct smelting, while alloy scrap assays must account for the specific elemental composition to determine its value as a raw material for remelting. Always request the detailed elemental breakdown to compare apples with apples.

What radiation screening applies to Copper Cathode exports from Zaire?

All Copper Cathode shipments leaving Zaire must undergo radiation and scrap-contamination screening to prove they are not mixed with radioactive waste or prohibited scrap materials. This screening is a mandatory step before the mineral export licence is finalized. The destination port will reject any container without a clear certificate showing no abnormal radiation levels were detected during the inspection.

Does the moisture content of Copper Cathode affect the final price?

Yes, because the buyer pays for pure copper, any moisture adds unnecessary weight that reduces the effective yield. Sellers often list the weight as dry or wet, so you must clarify which basis the price uses. High moisture content can also lead to corrosion during transit, potentially damaging the metal and lowering its market grade upon arrival.

Why is a mill test certificate non-negotiable for Copper Tubes?

The mill test certificate provides the official record of the chemical composition and mechanical properties of the Copper Tubes. Without it, you cannot verify that the tubes meet the required standard designation for your application. It serves as the primary evidence that the product matches the grade promised in the listing and the export licence.

How does density impact the container loading for Copper Foils?

Copper Foils are thin and lightweight, meaning they will fill a container by volume long before reaching the weight limit. This density characteristic often makes break-bulk or specialized palletizing more cost-effective than standard containers. You must calculate the cubic meters required to ensure you are not paying for unused space or struggling with overweight charges.

What happens if the alloy standard designation is missing from the listing?

Without a specific alloy standard designation, you cannot determine the material's strength, conductivity, or corrosion resistance. The listing becomes too vague to compare with other offers, as two items both called Copper Alloy can have vastly different properties. Always insist that the seller specifies the exact alloy grade before proceeding with any enquiry or payment.

Can I ship Copper Cathode in a standard container?

Copper Cathode is extremely dense, so a standard container will likely reach its maximum weight allowance with only a small fraction of its volume used. This often makes break-bulk shipping or specialized heavy-lift containers more practical and economical. You must consult with a freight forwarder to determine the most efficient stowage method for this specific density.
