How does the GSM rating on a briefcase shell influence its resistance to scuffing during airport handling?

GSM indicates the grammage of the fabric, directly correlating with thickness and density. A higher GSM rating means a denser weave that resists abrasion from rough surfaces. Buyers should compare this number against the intended use case, as standard luggage requires a specific threshold to prevent premature wear.

What specific care label information must be present to avoid rejection by textile quota authorities?

Care labels must state the exact fibre-content percentages and washing instructions as mandated by destination regulations. Incorrect percentages or missing symbols can lead to customs delays. Buyers need to ensure the stitched label matches the technical specification sheet provided by the manufacturer for accurate duty classification and compliance.

Why do fabric booking windows determine the validity period of a quotation for suitcases?

Manufacturers reserve raw materials months in advance to secure pricing and availability. Once a booking window closes, those specific yarns or panels may be allocated to other orders. A quote is only firm while the fabric remains reserved, making timing critical for locking in the landed cost.

Does shipping luggage hanging versus flat packed change the container cube and freight charges?

Yes, the packing method significantly alters the carton cube, which drives freight costs. Hanging items require more space per unit due to their rigid structure, while flat-packed versions stack efficiently. Buyers should request the specific cube measurement for the chosen packing style to calculate accurate ocean freight expenses.

How does the tech pack define the acceptable tolerance for colourfastness in a bag order?

The tech pack specifies the minimum colourfastness rating required for dyes against rubbing and washing. It sets the standard for what constitutes a defect in the final product. Buyers rely on this document to inspect bulk goods, ensuring the manufacturer meets the agreed-upon durability standards for the trade lane.

What role does sample approval play in preventing disputes over blend ratios in bulk production?

Sample approval locks in the fabric composition and construction details before mass production begins. It serves as the physical benchmark for the buyer to verify that the blend ratio matches the contract. Disputes over material quality are resolved by comparing the bulk lot against this approved sample standard.

How does the destination textile quota class affect the final landed cost for imported bags?

The duty class determines the tariff rate applied at the border, directly impacting the total cost. Accurate classification depends on the material composition and construction type stated in the documentation. Buyers must verify this class early to avoid unexpected duties that erode the margin on the final sale.
