Question 1

How do I distinguish between natural rubber sheets and processed rubber compounds in the Rubber & Related Items branch?

Accepted Answer

Natural rubber sheets are typically classified by grade based on smoke, field latex, or technically specified rubber (TSR) standards, focusing on purity and dirt content. Processed compounds are mixtures of rubber with additives and require data sheets detailing cure times and hardness. Verify if the listing specifies raw material form or a finished compound to ensure it matches your processing equipment.

Question 2

What packing standard applies to jute raw material versus industrial hardware exports from Togo?

Accepted Answer

Jute raw material requires dry, ventilated baling to prevent mold growth during ocean transit, often with moisture content limits specified in the listing. Industrial hardware is typically palletized or crated for mechanical protection. Confirm that the jute bales are wrapped in waterproof material and that the hardware is secured against shifting in the container.

Question 3

Why is sourcing rubber different from industrial supplies in terms of inspection?

Accepted Answer

Rubber is sensitive to temperature and UV exposure, requiring inspection for surface defects, compression set, and tensile strength before loading. Industrial supplies like tools or fasteners are inspected for dimensional accuracy and surface finish. A rubber inspection must verify that the material has not degraded due to improper storage conditions in the warehouse prior to shipment.

Question 4

What export documentation does Togo require for rubber and jute shipments?

Accepted Answer

Togo issues phytosanitary certificates for agricultural products like jute and natural rubber to certify they are free from pests and diseases. Industrial supplies generally require a certificate of origin and commercial invoice. Ensure the seller provides the phytosanitary certificate for rubber and jute lots, as destination customs will reject shipments without this plant health clearance.

Question 5

How does the physical nature of curcuma affect its listing requirements compared to industrial goods?

Accepted Answer

Curcuma is a spice that requires strict moisture control and often a fumigation certificate to prevent insect infestation. It is not an industrial good and does not belong in this category. Listings for curcuma will specify active ingredient content and color strength, which are irrelevant for hardware or rubber. Always verify the product is actually an industrial item before evaluating its specs.

Question 6

What is the main risk when sourcing rubber from Togo without verifying storage conditions?

Accepted Answer

Rubber degrades when exposed to ozone, heat, or direct sunlight, leading to cracking and loss of elasticity. If the seller stored the rubber in an open yard or unventilated warehouse, the material may be compromised before it even leaves Togo. Request photos of the storage facility and ask for recent test reports on tensile strength to confirm the material integrity.

Question 7

Why is shea nuts an incorrect product to look for under Industrial goods & chemical?

Accepted Answer

Shea nuts are an agricultural oilseed product, completely unrelated to industrial machinery or chemical compounds. They belong in a food or agricultural category. Searching for shea nuts under Industrial goods & chemical will yield irrelevant results. Focus on rubber, jute, or actual industrial hardware to find the correct suppliers for your manufacturing needs.
