How does the chemical assay percentage affect the payable weight in a shipment?

The assay percentage establishes the baseline value of the material. Impurities such as ash or silica content determine the proportion of the shipment that is actually payable material. Buyers calculate the final cost by applying the assay rate to the gross weight received at destination.

What documentation proves the material has passed radiation checks?

Destination authorities require specific radiation screening data to clear mineral shipments. Sellers must provide test results from accredited laboratories that confirm the absence of prohibited radioactive isotopes. This data is essential for customs clearance in strict markets.

Does the mineral export licence affect the shipping timeline?

The mineral export licence must be secured before goods leave the facility. Delays in obtaining this licence can halt loading operations entirely. Buyers should confirm the licence status before finalizing payment terms to avoid storage fees at the port.

How does the particle size distribution impact handling costs?

The particle or lump size distribution dictates the handling equipment required at destination. Fine powders may need pneumatic conveyors, while large lumps require heavy machinery. Incorrect size specifications can lead to additional handling charges or rejection of the cargo.

Why do quotes for Ores and Minerals expire so quickly?

Pricing for this category rides global commodity indices that shift constantly. Sellers usually hold offers open for only a few days. Buyers must act quickly to lock in rates before the index moves and the quote becomes invalid.

What mistake do first-time buyers make with sample quality?

Buyers often assume the sample represents the bulk shipment exactly. In reality, moisture content and particle size distribution can vary significantly between the sample and the shipped lot. Independent inspection before loading is necessary to verify consistency.

How does the stowage factor determine freight charges?

The stowage factor and density of the material decide whether you pay for weight or volume. Dense ores fill containers by weight, while lighter minerals may fill by volume. Understanding this factor helps buyers predict accurate freight costs.
