How does the chemical assay on an Iron Ore listing affect the payable price?

The chemical assay lists the percentage of iron and the limits for impurities like silica or phosphorus. Buyers pay based on the iron content minus penalties for high impurity levels. If the assay shows higher silica than your mill accepts, the price drops significantly. Always compare the assay table directly, not the headline grade.

What radiation screening data does a destination port require for Swedish exports?

Most destinations require a gamma radiation reading taken from the bulk cargo or the container. The seller must provide a recent report showing levels below the regulatory threshold. This screening prevents contamination from naturally occurring radioactive materials. Without this data, the cargo sits at the port until independent testing is completed.

Why do quotes for Ores and Minerals expire within days rather than weeks?

Prices track live commodity indices that update with every trading session. A quote held for a week may no longer reflect the current market value. Sellers cannot lock in prices for long periods because their own procurement costs change daily. You must secure the deal quickly after receiving the initial offer.

How does density determine whether you ship break-bulk or in a container?

High-density ores like magnetite fill the weight limit of a container long before the volume is full. Low-density materials like certain mineral powders fill the volume first. This distinction decides whether you pay for weight capacity or cubic space. Break-bulk is often cheaper for very dense loads that exceed container weight limits.

What is the costliest wrong assumption for a first-time buyer of Mineral Powder?

Buyers often assume the price includes drying, but moisture content can vary wildly in mineral powder. Wet powder weighs more but contains less active material, leading to overpayment. Always specify the maximum moisture limit in your enquiry to ensure the price reflects the dry weight you actually receive.

When is a mineral export licence valid for shipping from Sweden?

The licence must be issued for the specific batch or contract and have a clear expiry date. It must match the exact product description and quantity declared in the shipping documents. Using an expired licence or one for a different grade results in immediate seizure. Verify the licence details against the Bill of Lading before payment.

How does scrap contamination screening impact Iron Ore clearance at destination?

Scrap contamination refers to non-ore metal debris mixed into the bulk cargo. Destinations screen for this to protect their recycling and smelting infrastructure. If the screening finds excess scrap, the cargo may be rejected or fined. Sellers should provide a declaration of purity to avoid delays during customs inspection.
