How does moisture content in EPS block scrap affect its weight and freight cost?

EPS block scrap absorbs humidity, which increases its gross weight without adding value. Freight charges are often calculated on weight or volume, so wet material inflates shipping costs unnecessarily. Buyers should ask for the current moisture percentage and verify if the price is based on dry weight or wet weight. This distinction changes the effective cost per ton significantly.

What packing standard applies to PS blocks to prevent crushing during transit?

Polystyrene blocks are fragile and require rigid containment to maintain their shape. Loose packing leads to breakage and volume reduction, which distorts freight calculations based on volumetric weight. Sellers should specify if blocks are baled, boxed, or palletized. Buyers must confirm that the packing method matches the loading constraints of the chosen transport mode.

Why do Electric Motor Scrap listings vary in dismantling state?

Electric motor scrap can be sold as whole units, dismantled for copper, or shredded. The value differs drastically based on the level of processing and material purity. A buyer looking for copper recovery needs dismantled motors, while a recycler might prefer whole units. The listing must state the condition clearly, as mixed lots require separate handling and pricing.

How does Danube river transport impact delivery schedules for bulky scrap?

River transport is weather-dependent and subject to seasonal water level fluctuations. Delivery times for bulk items like EPS or PET can extend during droughts or freezes. Buyers should not assume fixed transit times for river shipments. Confirm the current operational status of the port and expected wait times for loading, as these variables directly affect project timelines.

What inspection point is critical for Plastic PET bottle bales?

Contamination is the primary risk for PET bales, including non-PET plastics or organic residues. Inspectors check for density, bale integrity, and foreign material percentage. A low-density bale indicates poor compression, increasing shipping costs. Buyers should require a pre-shipment inspection report detailing these metrics to ensure the material meets recycling facility standards.

How does border congestion in Serbia affect quote validity for land transport?

Land borders experience variable congestion, delaying truck departures and increasing demurrage risks. Quotes valid for only a few days may become obsolete if border delays occur. Buyers should ask for quote validity periods that account for potential border holds. Clarify who bears the cost of delays caused by customs or infrastructure bottlenecks.

What documentation is required for exporting Electric Motor Scrap from Serbia?

Exporting scrap electrical equipment often requires specific waste shipment notifications or recycling certificates. Buyers must verify that the seller has the necessary permits to export the material. Missing paperwork can lead to seizure at the destination or return shipments. Confirm the exact documentation chain before finalizing any payment or logistics arrangement.
