How does treatment disclosure change the valuation of a listing?

Disclosure of heat treatment or fracture filling significantly lowers the market value compared to untreated stones. Buyers must ask for a laboratory report that explicitly states whether the gem has undergone any enhancement. Without this disclosure, the item may be misclassified and rejected by destination labs.

What specific hallmarking rules in the destination affect Gold-Plated Necklace imports?

You must check if the destination requires a minimum gold thickness for items labeled as gold-plated. Some markets mandate a specific micron count to prevent fraud. If the hallmarking rules in the destination are stricter than the seller's origin, you risk customs seizure for non-compliant labeling.

Why are quotes for Gems & Jewellery held for hours rather than days?

The underlying value of gold and diamonds fluctuates with global commodity markets throughout the trading day. Sellers cannot lock in a price for long periods without risking a loss if the metal price spikes. You must accept the quote quickly or face a revised price.

How does secure carriage impact the cost of a Smart Bracelet order?

While a Smart Bracelet is low value, it is often shipped in the same secure containers as higher-value items. Secure carriage and insurance dominate the cost structure regardless of the item's intrinsic worth. You pay for the safety of the container, not the weight of the goods.

What distinguishes a Russian Souvenirs Matryoshka from a high-value collectible?

The distinction lies in the craftsmanship level and the materials used for the paint and wood. A standard souvenir uses mass-produced molds and basic lacquer, while a collectible features hand-painted details and higher grade wood. Buyers should examine the finish quality to understand the price difference.

How do I verify the metal purity and hallmark on a Gold-Plated Necklace?

Request a certificate from an accredited laboratory that specifies the base metal and the gold layer thickness. The hallmark should match the standards of the country where the item was manufactured. Without this documentation, you cannot prove the value of the precious metal content to customs.

What paperwork is required for the Kimberley Process where it applies?

You need a valid Kimberley Process certificate for any rough diamonds included in the shipment. This document proves the stones are conflict-free and allows them to enter your country legally. Missing this paperwork will result in the entire shipment being detained until the issue is resolved.
