Does a listed device include the correct chipset for my network infrastructure?

Sellers often list the generic product name without specifying the exact chipset revision. You must ask for the specific chip model number to ensure compatibility with your existing network hardware. Mismatched chipsets can cause connectivity issues or require additional drivers that are no longer supported by the manufacturer. Verify this detail before confirming the order.

Are FCC or CE markings present on the device housing?

Regulatory compliance requires visible FCC or CE emissions marking on the physical unit, not just in the paperwork. Some refurbished units may have faded labels or missing stickers from previous installations. Request clear photos of the label to confirm the marking is intact and legible before shipping. This prevents rejection at the destination port.

Is the item new or refurbished, and what warranty applies?

Refurbished Networking & Communications Devices often come with limited warranty terms compared to new units. Sellers must explicitly state the condition and the remaining warranty period in the listing. A new unit typically includes the full manufacturer warranty, while a refurbished one may only have a seller-provided guarantee. Clarify this to manage your risk exposure.

Do the lithium batteries restrict my shipping method?

Devices with integrated or separate lithium batteries are subject to strict dangerous goods regulations. These declarations often restrict air carriage, requiring sea freight which increases transit time and handling costs. Confirm the battery capacity and type with the seller to determine the available shipping routes. Air freight may be impossible without special exemptions.

How does model revision affect the rated specification?

Different model revisions can alter the rated specification, such as processing speed or connectivity standards. A newer revision might support higher bandwidths or different power requirements than the older version listed. Always request the specific revision code to ensure it matches your technical requirements. Assuming all revisions are identical can lead to functional mismatches.

What proof of type-approval is needed for wireless gear?

Wireless Networking & Communications Devices require specific import type-approval in many destination markets. This approval ensures the device operates on frequencies allowed by local regulators. Sellers should provide the relevant type-approval certificate or reference number. Without this, customs may seize the shipment or impose heavy fines.

Why do quotes for these devices expire so quickly?

The rapid release of new model cycles means older inventory loses value quickly. A quote for a specific chipset version may become obsolete if a newer model is announced. Sellers adjust prices frequently to clear older stock before new arrivals hit the market. Always confirm the quote validity period before placing an order.
