Question 1

Does a Medical Face Masks Type Iir listing require a different protection standard than Type Ii?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the protection standard and class differ between these two product types. Type Iir requires fluid resistance suitable for surgical procedures, while Type Ii offers basic source control. Buyers must verify which standard applies to their intended use. A listing that fails to specify the class is incomplete for medical procurement.

Question 2

How does batch traceability affect entry for medical face masks?

Accepted Answer

Destination entry turns on batch traceability and notified-body approval for the specific manufacturing run. Regulators require proof that each batch corresponds to a valid approval. Without this link, the shipment cannot clear customs. Buyers should request traceability documents before confirming any order.

Question 3

Why does shelf life matter for 2 Ply Face Mask from Portugal?

Accepted Answer

Shelf life determines the usable window for sterile or non-sterile units. A quote goes stale when the regulatory approval for the production line expires. If the remaining shelf life is short, the product may not meet destination entry requirements. Buyers must check the expiration date on the listing.

Question 4

What happens if sterile barrier integrity is compromised during shipping?

Accepted Answer

Sterile barrier integrity ensures the product remains sterile until use. Humidity control and proper packaging maintain this barrier. If compromised, the unit is no longer sterile and cannot be used in surgical settings. This defect significantly increases the landed cost due to potential rejection or rework.

Question 5

How does batch and expiry segregation impact the shipment?

Accepted Answer

Batch and expiry segregation in the shipment affects handling and storage costs. Mixed batches complicate traceability and may violate destination regulations. Buyers must ensure the seller keeps batches separate to maintain compliance. This segregation is critical for maintaining the validity of the regulatory approval.

Question 6

What documentation proves the protection standard for a Medical Face Masks Type Iir?

Accepted Answer

The protection standard and class are defined by the notified-body approval. Buyers must request the certificate that specifies the fluid resistance and bacterial filtration efficiency. This document links the product to the regulatory framework. Without it, the listing does not prove compliance for surgical use.

Question 7

Why is regulatory approval the primary lead time for this product?

Accepted Answer

Regulatory approval is the lead time, and approvals expire. The approval for the production line and the product type must be current. A quote is only valid if the approval is active and linked to the specific batch. Buyers must verify the approval status before relying on any price.
