How does moisture content in Pvc Window Profile Scrap affect the net weight calculation?

Moisture content directly reduces the net weight of the lot because buyers pay for the dry metal, not the water. Sellers typically provide a moisture percentage that the buyer uses to deduct water weight from the gross weight. If the moisture level is high, the payable weight drops significantly. Always check if the listing states the moisture basis and whether the price is quoted on a dry or wet weight basis to avoid overpaying for water content.

What specific documentation proves the alloy designation matches the mill test certificate?

The mill test certificate must list the exact chemical composition, including trace elements, that corresponds to the alloy designation in the listing. Buyers should verify that the heat number on the certificate matches the batch number on the shipping documents. Discrepancies between the declared alloy and the certified composition can lead to rejection at destination. Ensure the certificate is issued by an accredited laboratory and is not older than the shipment date.

Does the particle size distribution of Metal & Metal Products affect the stowage factor?

Yes, particle or lump size distribution changes how densely the material packs in a container or hold. Smaller particles can settle and reduce void space, increasing the weight per cubic meter. Larger lumps create more air gaps, lowering the density. This density difference determines if the shipment hits the weight limit before filling the volume. Accurate size distribution data helps calculate the true stowage factor for freight costing.

How does ash content influence the final invoice amount for scrap metal?

Ash content represents non-metallic impurities that have no resale value to the smelter. Buyers deduct the weight of ash from the total gross weight before applying the metal price. High ash content significantly lowers the payable weight and thus the total invoice amount. Listings should specify the ash percentage so buyers can calculate the net recoverable metal weight accurately.

What happens if the radiation screening fails for Metal & Metal Products from Poland?

If radiation screening fails, the entire shipment is typically rejected by the destination port and must be returned or destroyed. The seller bears the cost of disposal or return freight. Buyers should require pre-shipment radiation testing results from a recognized agency. Do not proceed with payment until the radiation certificate confirms the metal is below the regulatory threshold for the destination country.

How does the mineral export licence validity period affect the quote hold time?

The mineral export licence is often valid for a fixed period, such as thirty days. If the buyer's quote hold expires before the licence is secured or presented, the deal may fall through. Sellers must align their quote expiration with the licence validity to ensure the transaction can close. Buyers should check the licence expiry date before relying on a price that seems attractive but is tied to a short-term permit.

Why does the stowage factor dictate break-bulk versus container shipping for these products?

The stowage factor determines the density of the metal product relative to the space it occupies. High-density products like steel billets often ship as break-bulk because they reach the weight limit long before the container is full. Low-density products like certain scrap types fill the container volume first, making container shipping more efficient. Choosing the wrong mode leads to paying for unused space or exceeding weight limits.
