Question 1

Does Dried Catfish require the same cold-chain temperature records as frozen livestock?

Accepted Answer

No. Dried Catfish is a preserved good that does not require active refrigeration during transit. Therefore, cold-chain temperature records are irrelevant for this specific product. However, the seller must still provide documentation proving the drying process met sanitary standards. Buyers should request evidence of proper storage conditions to prevent moisture reabsorption or pest infestation during shipping.

Question 2

How does the count per kilogram affect the usable yield of Dried Snail?

Accepted Answer

The count per kilogram determines the average size of each snail shell. A lower count per kilogram means larger snails with more meat, increasing the usable yield per unit. Buyers should verify this metric to calculate the true cost per gram of edible meat. Listings with inconsistent counts can lead to significant variations in portion sizing and final dish preparation.

Question 3

What happens if the establishment number on the health certificate does not match the exporter?

Accepted Answer

The destination customs authority will reject the entire shipment if the competent-authority establishment number is invalid or mismatched. This number proves the processing facility met the importing country's sanitary standards. Without a valid match, the goods cannot clear customs. Buyers should verify this number against the official registry of approved establishments before confirming the order.

Question 4

Why is the catch or production date critical for Dried Crayfish quality?

Accepted Answer

The production date indicates how long the crayfish have been stored, which affects texture and flavor retention. Older stock may become overly brittle or develop off-flavors due to oxidation. Buyers should check this date to ensure the product is fresh enough for retail or food service use. Older lots may require discounting or rejection based on destination quality standards.

Question 5

How does glaze percentage change the payable weight for frozen meat products?

Accepted Answer

Glaze is the ice coating applied to prevent freezer burn. The invoice price usually includes the glaze weight, but the buyer pays for the net weight of the meat. A high glaze percentage means a larger portion of the shipped weight is ice, not product. Buyers should calculate the net weight after subtracting the glaze to determine the true cost per kilogram of edible meat.

Question 6

Can I ship Dried Snail and Dried Catfish in the same container without cross-contamination risks?

Accepted Answer

Yes, dried animal products can often share container space if properly packaged in sealed, food-grade materials. However, strong odors from Dried Crayfish or Dried Catfish may transfer to lighter products like Dried Snail if packaging is insufficient. Buyers should insist on robust, airtight packaging to prevent odor migration. Proper ventilation and segregation within the container are also recommended to maintain product integrity.

Question 7

What specific document proves the freezing method used for frozen livestock?

Accepted Answer

The processing record or certificate of analysis typically details the freezing method, such as blast freezing or plate freezing. This method affects the texture and juice retention of the meat upon thawing. Buyers should request this documentation to verify that the freezing process met the quality standards specified in the contract. Inadequate freezing methods can lead to cell damage and poor product quality upon arrival.
