Question 1

How do I distinguish between raw gold ore and processed Gold Dore Bars?

Accepted Answer

Raw gold ore is unrefined rock containing trace gold, requiring crushing and chemical processing. Gold Dore Bars are semi-refined metal ingots produced after initial purification. The distinction matters because ore requires assay for grade, while Dore bars require assay for purity and weight. Listings for Dore bars often imply a higher level of processing than raw ore. Check the description for terms like ingot, bar, or refined to confirm the state of the material.

Question 2

What packing difference matters for raw minerals versus shaped metal products?

Accepted Answer

Raw minerals like ore are typically shipped in bulk containers or loose in open-top vessels. They require moisture control and heavy-duty lining. Shaped metal products, such as bars or sheets, are usually palletized, crated, or strapped to prevent damage. The packing method affects the handling equipment needed at the destination port. Confirm the packing method early to ensure your logistics provider can handle the specific load type.

Question 3

What is particular about export paperwork for goods leaving Mali?

Accepted Answer

Mali is landlocked, so goods must transit through neighboring countries to reach a seaport. Export clearance involves documentation from Mali and transit documentation for the crossing countries. The buyer must clarify if the seller includes transit fees in the quote or if they are separate. Ensure the seller provides the necessary customs declarations for the entire route, not just the initial exit from Mali.

Question 4

How does inventory thinness affect quote validity for these listings?

Accepted Answer

Listings from Mali are often sparse and may not reflect current stock levels. A quote may become invalid if the specific lot is sold or if the assay results change. Buyers should treat initial quotes as indicative rather than firm offers. Request a hold on the specific inventory or a re-confirmation of stock before making any payment commitments. This is critical for raw materials where supply can fluctuate rapidly.

Question 5

What specification separates raw ore from processed metal in a thin listing?

Accepted Answer

Raw ore is defined by its mineral content and gangue composition. Processed metal is defined by its chemical purity and physical form. A thin listing may omit the assay report for ore or the mill certificate for metal. Always ask for the specific test document that validates the material's quality. Without this document, the listing provides no guarantee of the material's actual value or usability.

Question 6

How do I word an enquiry to get comparable quotes for Gold Dore?

Accepted Answer

Specify the desired purity level, weight tolerance, and preferred assay method. Ask for the current assay report or a commitment to provide one before shipment. Include the target delivery port and whether you need the seller to arrange transit. Comparing quotes requires identical specifications for purity and logistics. Vague enquiries will result in quotes that are impossible to evaluate against each other.

Question 7

What to establish before paying a deposit for these goods?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the exact assay results or material specification that will govern the final payment. Verify who is responsible for export clearance and transit costs to the port. Ensure the contract allows for independent inspection at the loading point. A deposit should only be made after these terms are clearly defined in writing. This protects you from paying for goods that do not meet the agreed standards.
