Question 1

How does the GSM specification on a PP woven sack listing affect its load bearing capacity?

Accepted Answer

The GSM specification directly correlates with the tensile strength and tear resistance of the woven polypropylene material. A higher GSM rating indicates a denser weave and thicker filaments, which allows the sack to support heavier loads without rupturing during handling. Buyers must compare the stated GSM against the intended payload weight to ensure the bag does not fail under stress. This metric is the primary indicator of structural integrity for heavy-duty industrial packaging.

Question 2

What azo-dye restrictions apply to biodegradable bags entering strict European markets?

Accepted Answer

European markets enforce strict limits on the presence of specific azo-dyes that can break down into harmful aromatic amines. Biodegradable bags often use synthetic dyes that may contain these restricted substances, requiring specific laboratory testing to confirm compliance. Buyers must request a test report detailing the absence of these compounds before placing bulk orders. Failure to meet these chemical restrictions results in immediate rejection at the border, regardless of the bag's biodegradable certification.

Question 3

Why do fabric booking windows delay production for used jumbo bags?

Accepted Answer

Production of used jumbo bags depends on the availability of recycled textile stock, which fluctuates with seasonal recycling rates. Suppliers must secure fabric bookings during specific windows to ensure consistent quality and supply continuity. If a buyer enquires outside these windows, the supplier may lack the necessary raw material to commit to a delivery date. This dependency means pricing and timelines are dictated by the current fabric procurement cycle rather than immediate availability.

Question 4

How does hanging versus flat pack configuration impact the freight cost of shopping bags?

Accepted Answer

The packing configuration significantly alters the volumetric weight of the shipment, which directly determines the freight charge. Hanging bags require additional space for display hooks and packaging, increasing the carton cube and raising the cost per unit. Flat pack bags stack more efficiently, reducing the volume per carton and lowering shipping expenses. Buyers should specify their preferred packing method early to receive an accurate landed cost estimate.

Question 5

What fibre-content labelling errors cause clearance delays for bagasse food bags?

Accepted Answer

Customs authorities require precise fibre-content labelling to classify bagasse food bags correctly under textile and packaging regulations. Errors such as omitting the percentage of biodegradable fiber or misstating the binding agents can trigger inspections and holdups. The labelling must accurately reflect the composition declared in the commercial invoice and packing list. Any discrepancy between the physical product and the documentation leads to delays while authorities verify the material claims.

Question 6

How does the tech pack influence the final quality of a garment bag?

Accepted Answer

The tech pack defines the exact construction details, including stitch density, seam allowance, and hardware specifications for garment bags. It serves as the blueprint for production, ensuring that the final product matches the buyer's durability and aesthetic requirements. Without a detailed tech pack, suppliers may use standard construction methods that do not meet specific quality standards. Buyers should provide a comprehensive tech pack to minimize deviations and ensure the bulk production aligns with the approved sample.

Question 7

What specific chemical restrictions apply to scrap PP big bags for food contact?

Accepted Answer

Scrap PP big bags intended for food contact must comply with strict chemical migration limits to prevent contamination. Regulations prohibit the use of certain additives and recycled materials that may introduce hazardous substances into food products. Buyers must verify that the scrap material has been processed to meet food-grade safety standards before use. Non-compliance with these chemical restrictions can result in product recalls and legal penalties in destination markets.
