How does the chemical assay on a Gold Dore Bar listing affect the final payable price?

The chemical assay dictates the actual precious metal content, excluding impurities like silver or copper. Buyers pay based on the pure metal percentage minus processing charges for the dross. If the assay is lower than the seller's claim, the net weight deduction reduces the total invoice significantly. Always cross-check the assay against the mill test certificate before accepting the quote.

Why is the mineral export licence mandatory for shipments from Ghana?

The Ghanaian government requires this licence to legally extract and export raw mineral resources. Customs officials at the port of loading will not release the cargo without it. Importers in the destination country also need proof of this licence to satisfy their own anti-money laundering and sourcing regulations. Missing this document halts the entire transaction chain.

What happens if a Gold Bars shipment fails radiation screening?

Radiation screening is a standard safety protocol for all metal imports to detect contaminated scrap. If the cargo triggers an alarm, it is isolated and tested further. A positive result for radioactive material leads to immediate rejection and return to the port of origin. The seller bears the cost of repatriation and any fines imposed by customs.

How does the stowage factor change the shipping method for Gold Bars?

Gold Bars have a very high density, meaning they take up little space relative to their mass. This high stowage factor means the vessel hits its deadweight tonnage limit before the hold is full. Carriers often require break-bulk handling or specialized secure containers to accommodate the weight without wasting volumetric space.

Why do quotes for Gold Dore Bars expire so quickly?

Dore bars are unrefined gold whose value is directly tied to the spot price of gold. Since the index moves constantly during trading hours, a quote held for more than a few days becomes financially risky for the seller. The offer usually includes a strict validity window to lock in the price before the market shifts.

What distinguishes a mill test certificate from the chemical assay in a listing?

The chemical assay in a listing is the seller's stated purity claim for the specific lot. The mill test certificate is an independent laboratory report verifying that claim. Buyers must compare the two to ensure the physical goods match the advertised specifications before making any payment commitment.

What is the costliest error when buying Gold Bars for the first time?

First-time buyers often assume the listed price includes all handling and insurance costs. They fail to account for the premium on the assay or the freight cost for high-density cargo. This leads to a landed cost that is significantly higher than the initial quote, eroding the intended margin on the trade.
