Question 1

How do I distinguish a Petroleum listing from general Industrial Supplies?

Accepted Answer

Petroleum listings require safety data sheets and hazardous material handling declarations that general Industrial Supplies do not. When sourcing Petroleum, you must confirm the specific grade and flash point, as these determine storage and transport requirements. Industrial Supplies cover a wide array of non-hazardous items, so the documentation chain for Petroleum is stricter and must be verified before any payment.

Question 2

What documentation is unique to Raw and Processed Leather exports?

Accepted Answer

Raw and Processed Leather exports from Ghana require veterinary certificates and tanning chemical declarations that other branches do not. These documents prove the treatment process and ensure the material meets international sanitary standards. Without these specific certificates, the shipment may be rejected at the destination port, so you must request them during the initial enquiry phase.

Question 3

Why do Marine Equipment quotes differ from Refrigeration unit quotes?

Accepted Answer

Marine Equipment & Machinery listings involve heavy machinery with specific compliance standards for maritime use, while Refrigeration units focus on thermal efficiency and electrical specifications. The testing protocols for Marine Equipment are governed by maritime safety regulations, whereas Refrigeration units require energy performance data. Comparing these quotes directly is impossible because the technical requirements and certification bodies differ entirely.

Question 4

What packing standard applies to SHEA CAKE/MEAL shipments?

Accepted Answer

SHEA CAKE/MEAL shipments require moisture-controlled packaging to prevent spoilage during transit, which differs from the bulk packing of industrial metals. You must specify the desired packaging format, such as sacks or drums, and confirm the moisture content limits with the seller. Improper packing can lead to clumping or degradation, so the packaging specification is a critical part of the quotation.

Question 5

How does sourcing Air conditions differ from general Packaging Products?

Accepted Answer

Air conditions are mechanical units with specific voltage and cooling capacity requirements, while Packaging Products are consumable materials with no moving parts. When sourcing Air conditions, you must provide the target voltage and room size to get an accurate quote. Packaging Products require specifications on material type and dimensions, making the two categories fundamentally different in their technical requirements.

Question 6

What field on a listing is most critical for Petroleum orders?

Accepted Answer

The flash point and density fields are most critical for Petroleum orders, as these determine safety handling and storage requirements. Sellers often omit these details in broad listings, so you must request the specific test results for the batch. Without this data, you cannot determine the appropriate transport containers or insurance coverage for the shipment.

Question 7

Why must you verify the sub-branch for second hand bags?

Accepted Answer

Second hand bags fall under Industrial Supplies or potentially distinct used goods categories, requiring different import duties than new retail items. You must confirm whether the seller classifies them as industrial rags or used fashion goods, as this affects customs clearance. Misclassification can lead to delays or additional duties, so the sub-branch selection directly impacts the landed cost and regulatory compliance.
