How does the distinction between Ores and Minerals versus Metal & Metal Products change the inspection required?

Ores and Minerals require assay certificates and moisture content checks to verify chemical value and weight stability. Metal & Metal Products require dimensional tolerances, surface finish assessments, and grade verification for temper or alloy composition. Confusing these branches leads to requesting irrelevant paperwork, such as asking for a chemical assay on a pre-formed metal sheet where dimensional accuracy is the primary concern.

What makes a quote for PMMA Acrylic Sheet Scrap different from a generic metal quote?

PMMA Acrylic Sheet Scrap is a polymer waste stream, not a metal, so its value depends on purity, color consistency, and contamination levels rather than metal content or temper. Sellers must specify whether the scrap is pure acrylic or mixed with other plastics, as this drastically affects recycling viability. A standard metal quote will ignore these material-specific purity requirements entirely.

Why is inland transport to the Port of Rijeka a specific cost factor for Croatia?

Many mineral and metal sources in Croatia are located inland, requiring trucking to the Adriatic coast for export. The distance and road conditions from the quarry or processing facility to Rijeka add a variable cost that sellers often omit from initial FOB quotes. Buyers must confirm if the quoted price includes this haulage or if it is an extra charge added later.

What specification defines the value of Electric Motor Scrap rather than simple weight?

Electric Motor Scrap value is determined by the recoverable copper content, the presence of aluminum windings, and the condition of the steel casing. Buyers need to know if the motors are stripped, shredded, or whole, as this affects the separation cost and the purity of the resulting metal fractions. Weight alone is a misleading metric for this mixed waste stream.

What fails after shipment if packing terms for bulk ores are not settled?

Bulk ores are sensitive to moisture and can shift or cake during sea transit if not packed or loaded correctly. If the loading method (e.g., bulk vessel vs. containerized bags) is not agreed upon, the goods may arrive damaged or with significant weight loss due to moisture evaporation. This leads to disputes over the final payable weight at the destination port.

How do two listings for the same product category differ in their actual deliverable?

One listing may describe raw, unprocessed ore with high impurity levels, while the other offers beneficiated or processed material with higher purity. The physical form, such as lump size for ores or coil vs. sheet for metals, also varies significantly. These differences dictate entirely different processing costs and end-use applications for the buyer, making direct price comparison impossible without these details.

What documentation does a Croatian seller typically provide for mineral exports?

Sellers usually provide a certificate of origin, an assay report for chemical content, and a weight certificate issued at the loading point. Export permits from Croatian authorities may also be required depending on the specific mineral type. Buyers should verify which of these documents the seller already has on file, as obtaining them can delay the shipment timeline.
