How does assay data for Ores differ from the specs needed for Aluminum UBC?

Ores require chemical assay data to determine the concentration of valuable elements like copper or gold within the rock matrix. This data is measured in percentages or grams per tonne and must be verified by an independent laboratory. Aluminum UBC, being processed scrap, does not need elemental assay. Instead, buyers look for alloy composition and contamination levels. The spec for scrap is about purity and physical form, not geological content.

What goes wrong if I source Electric Motor Scrap under Ores and Minerals?

Electric Motor Scrap is a fabricated metal product, not a raw mineral extract. Sourcing it under Ores and Minerals leads to quotes based on weight or elemental content rather than the value of the recovered copper and aluminum windings. The pricing mechanism is entirely different. Fabricated scrap is valued by the recoverable metal yield and the cost of dismantling, which ore pricing models do not account for.

What specific paperwork does Colombia issue for raw mineral exports?

Colombian exports of raw minerals often require specific export licenses and environmental clearances that vary by the type of ore. Buyers must ensure the seller can provide the necessary documentation for customs clearance at the destination. This includes proof of origin and any required health or safety certificates for the specific mineral type. Missing papers cause shipments to be held at the port of exit.

Why is the condition of BOPP Printer Scrap critical for its value?

BOPP Printer Scrap is a processed polymer material, not a metal or ore. Its value depends heavily on the cleanliness and type of ink residue remaining on the film. Buyers need to know if the scrap is washed or unwashed and the percentage of contaminants. This physical condition directly impacts the recycling process and the final yield of recyclable plastic.

How do you distinguish between raw Polyurethane Foam Scrap and processed foam products?

Raw Polyurethane Foam Scrap is often loose or baled waste from manufacturing, while processed foam products are cut to specific shapes or densities. The distinction matters for logistics because loose foam requires densification for shipping. Processed products have defined dimensions and may require specific handling to prevent damage. Quotes for loose foam are based on bulk density, while processed items use unit pricing.

What specification separates ELMO Motor Scrap from general electric motor waste?

ELMO Motor Scrap refers to motors from a specific manufacturer or type that may have known winding specifications. General electric motor waste is a mix of various brands and sizes with unknown copper content. Buyers prefer known types because the recovery rate of copper and aluminum is more predictable. Generic scrap requires sampling to determine the actual metal content.

Why does the packing method matter for Aluminum UBC in Colombia?

Aluminum UBC, or used beverage cans, is lightweight and bulky. Packing it into bales is essential to reduce shipping volume and cost. Loose cans are impractical for ocean freight due to the high air-to-material ratio. Buyers must confirm if the seller provides baled cans or loose units, as this affects the freight cost per tonne significantly.
