How does the continuous duty cycle rating distinguish a unit built for cold storage from one for general refrigeration?

The duty cycle defines how many hours per day the compressor can run at full load without overheating. Cold storage environments demand continuous operation, whereas general refrigeration units are rated for intermittent duty. Selecting a unit with an insufficient duty cycle rating leads to premature compressor failure and higher energy consumption. Always verify the rated duty cycle matches your operational hours to ensure long-term reliability and proper warranty coverage.

What electrical certification must accompany a refrigeration unit to clear customs in the EU?

European entry requires the CE marking and compliance with low voltage and electromagnetic compatibility directives. The unit must include a declaration of conformity and test reports from an approved body. Without these documents, customs authorities will detain the shipment. Ensure the seller provides the full technical file, including wiring diagrams that match the CE certification, before payment is processed.

Why does the price for a large cold storage unit expire before the goods are loaded?

Lead time is manufacturing time, meaning the price is tied to a specific production slot in the factory schedule. If the slot is not secured by a deposit or contract, the factory may allocate that capacity to another buyer. Even if the unit is finished, a delay in scheduling shifts the production date, causing raw material price fluctuations. This makes the original quote stale regardless of the seller's intent.

How does out-of-gauge handling affect the landed cost of a refrigeration system?

Large refrigeration units often exceed the width or height of standard containers, requiring flat-rack containers or breakbulk shipping. This triggers out-of-gauge handling fees at both origin and destination ports. Crating becomes more complex and expensive to prevent damage during transit. These logistics costs can significantly increase the final invoice, so you must verify dimensions against container specs before ordering.

What determines the warranty and spares availability for an industrial refrigeration compressor?

Warranty terms depend on the build standard and the specific component manufacturers used, such as the compressor brand. Spares availability is critical for cold storage, where downtime is costly. Buyers should check if the seller stocks critical parts like contactors, relays, and expansion valves. A lack of local spares support can extend repair times significantly, impacting your cold chain integrity.

Why must operator documentation language be verified before shipping cold storage equipment?

Many destinations require safety manuals and operating instructions in the local language for regulatory compliance. If the seller provides only Chinese or English manuals, customs may reject the shipment or the equipment may be deemed non-compliant for use. You must specify the required language in the purchase order. Failure to do so results in delays and potential re-export costs.

What role does installation and commissioning scope play in the total cost of a refrigeration system?

The base price often excludes on-site installation, electrical connections, and system commissioning. These services require specialized technicians and can vary widely in cost based on site conditions. You need to clarify whether the seller provides remote support or on-site engineers. Unaccounted installation costs can double the initial budget, so define the scope of supply clearly before finalizing the contract.
