What distinguishes ABS Scrap regrind from ABS batteries regrind in terms of chemical assay?

ABS Scrap regrind typically consists of pure polymer pellets or flakes with minimal additive variance. ABS batteries regrind contains residual electrolytes, metal contacts, and plastic casing debris that alter the chemical assay significantly. The presence of these contaminants affects the melting point and final plastic quality. Buyers must request the specific ash or silica content to determine if the regrind is suitable for high-grade injection molding or requires further washing and separation.

Does PET bottle scrap require radiation screening before export from Bahrain?

Yes, PET bottle scrap often undergoes radiation and scrap-contamination screening at the port of exit. This is because post-consumer PET can absorb trace radioactive materials from environmental exposure or industrial use. The screening ensures the material meets international safety standards for recycling. Without passing this check, the shipment faces immediate rejection or costly decontamination procedures at the destination.

How does Steel Shaft Rolls Scrap differ from general electric motor scrap in alloy designation?

Steel Shaft Rolls Scrap is defined by a specific alloy designation resistant to high wear and heat, often containing chromium or molybdenum. General electric motor scrap contains a mix of steel, copper windings, and aluminum, lacking a uniform alloy designation. The chemical assay for shaft rolls focuses on hardness and tensile strength, while motor scrap is valued by its segregated metal content. This distinction impacts how each lot is processed and priced.

What documentation confirms the moisture content of ABS plastic regrind?

A mill test certificate or a specific laboratory analysis report confirms the moisture content of ABS plastic regrind. Moisture levels affect the extrusion process and final product integrity. Buyers should verify that the stated moisture percentage aligns with their processing requirements. High moisture can cause defects like silver streaks or reduced impact strength in the final molded parts.

Why does a mineral export licence matter for Bahrain metal products?

A mineral export licence is required to legally move certain metal products out of Bahrain. This licence verifies that the export complies with national resource management regulations. Without it, customs will hold the cargo, leading to storage fees and potential fines. Buyers must ensure the seller has obtained this licence before making any payment or shipment arrangements.

How does density affect container loading for electric motor scrap?

Density determines whether weight or volume fills the container for electric motor scrap. Shredded or loose motor scrap has a low bulk density, often filling the container by volume before reaching the weight limit. This results in higher freight costs per tonne. Buyers should calculate the stowage factor to estimate accurate shipping expenses and compare quotes based on volumetric weight rather than just tonnage.

What is the impact of ash content on PET bottle scrap value?

Ash content in PET bottle scrap reduces the purity and recyclability of the material. High ash levels indicate the presence of non-PET contaminants like labels, adhesives, or inorganic fillers. These impurities lower the melting efficiency and degrade the quality of the recycled PET flakes. Buyers typically pay less for scrap with high ash content due to the additional processing costs required to remove these contaminants.
