How does the moisture percentage listed for Beech firewood change its heat output compared to Pine?

The moisture percentage directly determines the net calorific value of the wood. Beech firewood with a lower moisture content releases more heat per kilogram than wetter wood, regardless of the species. Pine firewood often burns faster and produces more sparks, which affects its suitability for certain appliances. The listing must state the specific moisture limit, and buyers should compare this number directly rather than assuming all firewood performs identically.

What phytosanitary proof does the destination usually demand for solid wood fuel from Austria?

Most destinations require a phytosanitary certificate proving the wood is free from pests and diseases. Some countries also demand that the wood has been heat treated to a specific core temperature. The buyer must ask the seller if the wood meets the specific treatment standards of the importing country. Without this proof, customs will likely reject the shipment at the border.

Why should I ignore a Diesel listing if the posting date is more than a month old?

Fuel prices fluctuate daily with global crude markets and local refining margins. A month-old listing for Diesel likely reflects an outdated price that no longer matches current market rates. The seller may have already sold the stock or adjusted their pricing structure. Always request a fresh quote to ensure you are comparing against current reality, not historical data.

Does the unit of sale for Oak firewood affect the price per gigajoule?

Yes, because the unit of sale determines how you calculate the energy cost. Oak firewood might be sold by the cubic meter, by the tonne, or by the pallet. Each unit requires a different conversion to find the cost per gigajoule of heat. A lower price per cubic meter might actually be more expensive per unit of heat if the wood is less dense or wetter.

What happens if the incoterm is ex works for a large wood charcoal order from Austria?

Under ex works terms, you are responsible for loading the charcoal onto the truck at the seller's depot. You also pay for all inland haulage to the nearest rail or sea port. This means your landed cost includes not just the product price, but also the logistics of moving heavy bulk material from the warehouse. You must factor in the weight and volume constraints of your chosen transport method.

How do I verify that the Oak firewood listed is actually kiln dried?

You must check the specific drying method stated in the listing details. Kiln drying reduces moisture significantly faster and more evenly than air drying. If the listing does not explicitly state kiln drying, assume it is air dried, which typically has higher residual moisture. Ask the seller to confirm the drying process and provide recent moisture test results before committing to the order.
