Question 1

How do I distinguish between Soybean Oil and Soybeans in this category?

Accepted Answer

Soybeans are raw agricultural commodities requiring phytosanitary inspection for pests and moisture content. Soybean Oil is a refined product classified under Processed Food, requiring different labeling and stability testing. Misfiling these leads to incorrect quotation formats and mismatched logistics expectations. Always check the sub-branch to ensure you are sourcing the correct physical state of the product.

Question 2

What makes Yerba Mate different from general tea listings?

Accepted Answer

Yerba Mate is a specific South American infusion with distinct curing and aging processes that affect flavor. Listings must specify the cut of the leaf and the presence of stems, which impact brewing strength. General tea categories do not capture these nuances. Buyers should verify the specific processing method stated in the listing to ensure it matches their roasting or brewing setup.

Question 3

Why does sourcing Mushroom Popcorn under Livestock fail?

Accepted Answer

Mushroom Popcorn is a snack food item that belongs in Processed Food, not Livestock & Animal Products. Sourcing it under the wrong branch yields sellers who specialize in raw feed or meat products. This mismatch results in quotes that ignore packaging requirements for human consumption. Verify the sub-branch to ensure the seller handles food-grade packaging and safety standards.

Question 4

What export paperwork is specific to Argentina for plant goods?

Accepted Answer

Plant-based products like Barley and Soybeans require phytosanitary certificates issued by Argentine agricultural authorities. These documents confirm the goods are free from specific pests and diseases. Without this certificate, the goods cannot clear customs in many destination markets. Buyers must ask for proof of this documentation before finalizing any order to avoid shipment delays.

Question 5

How do Alcoholic Beverages differ from Bar Products in specs?

Accepted Answer

Alcoholic Beverages typically refer to the liquid product itself, requiring proof of alcohol content and purity. Bar Products often include finished mixes, syrups, or tobacco items with different regulatory classifications. The distinction matters for customs duties and labeling laws. Check the sub-branch to ensure the seller declares the correct product category for your local import regulations.

Question 6

What specification is critical for Seafood Supplies leaving Argentina?

Accepted Answer

Seafood Supplies require strict temperature control and health certificates proving the product is safe for human consumption. Listings must state the catch method and processing status, such as frozen or fresh. Without these details, the buyer cannot determine the correct cold chain logistics. Always verify the health certification status before requesting a quote to ensure compliance with destination health laws.

Question 7

Why do two quotes for Barley resist direct comparison?

Accepted Answer

Quotes for Barley vary based on whether the product is malted or feed-grade, which drastically changes the price and end use. One seller may quote FOB while another quotes CIF, altering the landed cost significantly. Buyers must standardize the incoterms and specific grade requirements before comparing quotes. Without these details, the price difference is meaningless and misleading.
