It may be informed that during 2022-23, India’s Agri & Allied sector occupied about 12% of our overall exports of USD 450 billion and cross USD 52 billion mark. The export is driven by marine products, rice, sugar, spices, buffalo meat, oil meals, wheat, cereals, coffee, fresh fruits & vegetables, processed fruits & juices, groundnut, pulses, etc. Through such a delegation, we intend to generate more export opportunities for exporters to continue this growth momentum.
Jordan is a net food-importing country, and a growing market of around 11 million consumers. Jordan’s population has nearly doubled in the past decade. As a result, Jordan imports up to 98 percent of consumable items from abroad, including rice, frozen chicken cuts, nuts, fresh apples, cheese, beef, and food preparations. Due to the scarcity of water, agriculture has been declining as a component of the overall economy for years.
On the other side, with high population growth, Egypt continues to rely on imports for more than 50 percent of its food and agricultural product needs. With limited agricultural resources, low agricultural productivity, and a rapidly growing population, Egypt is the world’s largest wheat importer as well. Egyptian officials prioritize food security and maintain one of the world’s largest food subsidy programs.
Therefore, to push India’s export to Jordan and Egypt, FIEO with the support of the Embassy of India in Jordan and Egypt is mounting a B2B Delegation. B2B Meetings shall be organized with Importers, Distributors, Hypermarket/ Retail Chains etc. followed by visits to Supermarkets/Importers Premises/ Industrial Visits.
