Question 1

How does the inspection requirement differ between Fuel & Energy Resources and Paper & Paper Products?

Accepted Answer

Fuel & Energy Resources requires a certificate of analysis to verify sulphur content and density before shipment. Paper & Paper Products need verification of grammage and moisture content to prevent warping during transit. The inspection protocol for liquids focuses on chemical composition and safety, while dry goods focus on physical dimensions and environmental stability. You must request the specific test report relevant to the sub-category, as a general quality check is insufficient for either.

Question 2

What documentation is missing if I source Diesel Gas Oil Ultra-Low Sulphur Diesel under the wrong branch?

Accepted Answer

If you list Diesel Gas Oil Ultra-Low Sulphur Diesel under a general goods branch, the seller may omit the safety data sheet and flash point measurements. These documents are critical for customs clearance and safe handling at the destination port. The listing must explicitly state the sulphur percentage and viscosity. Without these specific details in the correct branch, the quote cannot be used for logistics planning or regulatory compliance.

Question 3

Why does the packaging requirement change when moving from Gifts & Decorative to Automobile & Auto Accessories?

Accepted Answer

Gifts & Decorative items are typically packed in cardboard boxes for retail display, requiring minimal structural protection. Automobile & Auto Accessories often include heavy metal parts that require palletizing and strapping to prevent movement during container shipping. The handling instructions for fragile decor items do not apply to industrial components. You must specify the weight and fragility of the items to ensure the seller provides the correct packing standard.

Question 4

What specific risk arises if I source Medical & HealthCare items without verifying sterile handling?

Accepted Answer

Medical & HealthCare items often require sterile packaging and controlled storage conditions to maintain efficacy. If the seller packs these items in general warehouses with non-climate control, the product may be compromised upon arrival. You must confirm that the listing specifies sterile handling and temperature requirements. A general goods quote does not account for the additional costs of cold chain logistics or sterile packaging materials.

Question 5

How do I distinguish between a listing for Fitness Equipment and one for Sports Goods?

Accepted Answer

Fitness Equipment typically refers to durable, heavy machinery like treadmills that require disassembly and specific freight handling. Sports Goods often includes lighter, packaged items like balls or rackets that can be palletized more densely. The inspection for fitness equipment focuses on mechanical safety and load-bearing capacity, while sports goods focus on material quality and packaging integrity. You must select the branch that matches the physical form and weight of the item.

Question 6

What goes wrong after shipment if you ignore the sub-category choice for Fuel & Energy Resources?

Accepted Answer

Ignoring the sub-category for Fuel & Energy Resources often leads to missing safety data sheets and proper tank cleaning certificates. These documents are required by destination customs and port authorities for safe unloading. If the seller assumes a general goods classification, they may not provide the necessary chemical declarations. This omission causes delays and demurrage charges at the destination port until the correct documentation is produced.

Question 7

Why are two quotes for Diesel Gas Oil Ultra-Low Sulphur Diesel impossible to compare directly without sub-branch detail?

Accepted Answer

One quote may be for bulk tanker delivery while another is for drummed retail packaging. The pricing structure, incoterms, and handling requirements differ significantly between these methods. You must confirm the packaging type and delivery method in the listing. Without this detail, the price per unit is meaningless because the logistics costs are embedded differently in each quote.
