Question 1

How do I distinguish structural timber from finished joinery in the Wood and Lumber branch?

Accepted Answer

Look for treatment class and dimensional tolerances in the listing details. Structural timber requires specific load-bearing ratings and preservative treatment levels for outdoor or ground contact. Finished joinery focuses on surface finish, grain matching, and precise cut dimensions. If the listing omits treatment class, assume it is for interior use only until confirmed.

Question 2

What packing difference matters for Glass & Ceramics Related Products versus Building Material & Equipment?

Accepted Answer

Glass and ceramics require rigid crating with shock-absorbing interleaving to prevent transit breakage. Metal equipment in the Building Material & Equipment branch typically ships on pallets or in open containers. Inspect the listing for packaging type; flexible packaging for fragile items is a red flag if the item is brittle. Request photos of the actual packing method before quoting.

Question 3

What export paperwork is specific to heating systems leaving Ukraine?

Accepted Answer

Heating systems often require technical conformity declarations and pressure vessel certifications depending on the unit type. Sellers must provide the technical passport for the equipment, which details operational limits and safety ratings. Verify that the documentation matches the exact model number in the listing, as generic certificates do not apply to specific mechanical units.

Question 4

Why do two quotes for metal scrap resist direct comparison?

Accepted Answer

Metal scrap pricing depends heavily on chemical composition and contaminant levels, which vary by lot. One quote may include sorting fees while another assumes raw, unsorted material. Check if the seller specifies the alloy grade or contamination percentage. Without these details, the price difference reflects quality variation, not just market fluctuation.

Question 5

What goes wrong when buying drill pipe without checking grade?

Accepted Answer

Heavy Weight Drill Pipe has specific steel grades and thread connections that must match your rig specifications. Using the wrong grade leads to premature failure or connection separation during drilling operations. Verify the steel grade and thread type in the listing details. Do not assume compatibility based on the item name alone, as dimensions can vary between manufacturers.

Question 6

How do you check if a thin listing for Building Material & Equipment is valid?

Accepted Answer

Thin listings often omit the material standard or size tolerance required for installation. Look for references to specific trade standards or material certifications in the description. If the listing lacks technical data, request a specification sheet before proceeding. A valid listing will clearly state the material grade and dimensional accuracy.

Question 7

What is the risk of ignoring the sub-branch for Heating, Air Conditioner & Ventilation?

Accepted Answer

Mechanical systems require electrical compatibility and refrigerant type specifications that differ from static building materials. Placing a heater in the wrong branch may lead to receiving a unit with incompatible voltage or control systems. Always select the Mechanical branch for operational equipment to ensure the seller provides the correct technical documentation and wiring diagrams.
