Question 1

How does the duty cycle rating on an engine protection unit like EngiCleaner differ from a standard pump?

Accepted Answer

The duty cycle rating defines the percentage of time a motor can run continuously before overheating. An EngiCleaner unit often requires intermittent operation to manage heat buildup in the chemical treatment process. A standard pump might be rated for continuous duty if designed for constant circulation. Buyers must check the thermal protection class to ensure the unit survives the intended shift length without requiring a cooling down period.

Question 2

What electrical certification proves the Biodiesel Oil handling pump meets destination safety codes?

Accepted Answer

The certification must explicitly state compliance with the destination's machinery safety directives. For European ports, this is the CE marking with the relevant low voltage directive references. For other markets, a UL or equivalent national standard marking is required. The certificate must list the specific voltage and frequency the motor is rated for, as marine environments often have unstable power supplies that can damage non compliant motors.

Question 3

Why does a quote for a marine winch expire even if the raw material costs are stable?

Accepted Answer

The quote expires because the production slot on the assembly line is reserved for that order. Manufacturing capacity is limited, and other buyers can take that slot at any time. The price may remain valid for a few days, but the ability to produce the unit by the requested date is what actually decays. You must confirm the slot to lock in the delivery schedule.

Question 4

How does flat rack handling change the cost of shipping a heavy marine crane from Turkey?

Accepted Answer

Flat rack handling adds specialized stowage fees because the crane exceeds standard container dimensions. The crane must be lashed and braced according to strict maritime safety rules. This requires extra steel beams and labor for securing the load. These logistics costs are variable and depend on the exact dimensions of the crane and the specific vessel route chosen.

Question 5

What operator documentation language is critical for a crew that does not speak Turkish?

Accepted Answer

The manual and safety labels must be in the language the crew uses daily. If the crew speaks English, the documentation must be in English. If they speak Arabic or Russian, the seller must provide those versions. Missing or incorrect documentation can lead to operational errors or even safety violations during inspection. Always request the language version before placing the order.

Question 6

How does spare parts shipment volume affect the initial landed cost calculation for marine engines?

Accepted Answer

Spare parts are often shipped separately from the main engine due to size or hazard classification. This creates additional air freight or separate sea freight charges. The volume of the spare parts box directly impacts the volumetric weight calculation. Buyers must include these separate shipping costs in their total landed cost, as they are rarely included in the base engine quote.

Question 7

What failure mode is common after shipping a marine chemical dosing system to a humid port?

Accepted Answer

Corrosion of electrical contacts and control panels is the most common failure mode. Humid marine environments accelerate rust on untreated metal surfaces. The chemical dosing system must have proper IP rating seals to prevent moisture ingress. Buyers should inspect the internal wiring and connectors for any signs of corrosion before commissioning the system in a humid climate.
