Does Sulphured Dried Apricot require a different labelling declaration than Natural Dried Apricot?

Yes, the presence of sulphur dioxide triggers specific allergen and additive labelling requirements in many destination markets. You must verify if your country mandates explicit declaration of E220 or sulphites on the packaging. This distinction affects not only the product grade but also the regulatory compliance checklist you must complete before customs clearance.

What happens if the Apricot moisture content exceeds the buyer's limit?

Excess moisture leads to mould growth and rejection at the destination port. Grade specifications define the quality, including the maximum permitted moisture content for the dried fruit. If the shipped lot exceeds this limit, the buyer can reject the entire shipment or demand a price reduction to cover disposal costs.

Does selling in bulk cartons or retail boxes change the minimum order quantity?

The unit of sale directly influences the order minimum because bulk sacks have different handling requirements than retail boxes. A seller might require a full container load for bulk dried fruit but allow smaller quantities for pre-packaged Sulphured Dried Apricot. Check the listing to see if the minimum is defined by weight or by package count.

Why is the posting date critical when comparing Apricot listings?

The listing date shows when the offer was published, which affects price accuracy. Apricot prices fluctuate with harvest cycles and global demand. A listing posted months ago likely reflects outdated stock levels and pricing, making it unreliable for current procurement planning. Always check the last update timestamp.

Who pays for inland haulage when buying Apricot from Turkey?

Payment responsibilities for local transport depend on the agreed incoterm. If the quote is EXW, you pay for transport from the seller's warehouse. If it is FCA or FOB, the seller covers inland costs to the port. Clarify this upfront to avoid unexpected logistics charges that inflate the landed cost.

What specific certificate confirms the Apricot is free from prohibited residues?

You need a phytosanitary certificate and often a specific residue analysis report from an accredited lab. These documents confirm the Apricot meets the destination's maximum residue limits. Without these papers, the shipment will likely be held or destroyed at the border, regardless of the quality of the fruit itself.

Can I mix Natural and Sulphured Dried Apricot in one container?

You can mix them if the seller agrees and the destination allows commingling of different treatment types. However, labelling becomes complex because each lot must be clearly identified. Mixing may also affect the overall grade if one batch has higher moisture or different sizing, potentially complicating the inspection process upon arrival.
