How does the chemical assay for Tantalite affect the final invoice amount?

The invoice amount is calculated based on the payable weight, which is derived from the chemical assay results. If the actual metal content differs from the quoted grade, the price is adjusted proportionally. A lower assay percentage reduces the payable value, while higher content may trigger a premium. Always request the latest assay report from an independent laboratory to verify the content before payment.

What specific documentation proves the ore has passed radiation screening?

You need a radiometric survey report issued by a recognized inspection agency. This document confirms that the ore meets the destination country's safety limits for natural radioactivity. Without this report, customs authorities at the destination port will likely reject the cargo. Ensure the survey was conducted on the specific lot being shipped, not on a general sample.

Why does the mineral export licence determine the loading timeline?

The licence is the legal authorization to move the material out of Tanzania. The loading terminal will not release the cargo without a valid, unexpired licence on file. Delays in obtaining or renewing this document directly push back the vessel's departure date. Check the expiry date on the licence to ensure it covers the entire loading period.

How does particle size distribution impact handling costs for flake graphite?

Fine particles in flake graphite can create dust issues during loading and unloading, requiring special containment measures. If the particle size is too small, you may incur additional costs for bagging or sealed containers to prevent loss. Conversely, larger flakes may load faster but require different handling equipment. Verify the size distribution in the specification to anticipate these operational costs.

What difference exists between a mill test certificate and a commercial invoice?

A mill test certificate provides independent verification of the physical and chemical properties, such as purity and moisture. The commercial invoice is a financial document stating the price and quantity agreed upon by buyer and seller. The certificate proves what the goods are; the invoice states what you are paying for. Both are required for customs clearance, but they serve different purposes.

How does the stowage factor decide if I pay by weight or volume?

The stowage factor indicates how much space one ton of material occupies. If the material is dense, it will fill the container by weight before it fills the volume. If it is light, it will fill the space first. Freight charges are applied to whichever limit is reached first, so knowing the stowage factor helps you predict the shipping cost accurately.

What happens if the moisture content exceeds the agreed limit in the contract?

Excess moisture adds dead weight to the shipment, which you pay for but cannot sell. Most contracts allow for a specific moisture percentage; anything above that is deducted from the payable weight. In severe cases, the buyer may reject the cargo entirely if the moisture compromises the material's quality or handling. Ensure the moisture content is measured at the point of loading.
