Question 1

How do I distinguish between Household Merchandise and Commercial & Office Furniture?

Accepted Answer

The distinction lies in the intended usage environment and durability requirements. Household Merchandise includes items like residential sofas, decorative textiles, and general home storage solutions. These focus on aesthetics and comfort. Commercial & Office Furniture covers desks, conference tables, and ergonomic chairs designed for high traffic and heavy daily use. Check the listing description for terms like 'contract grade' or 'residential use' to determine the correct branch. Misidentifying the branch leads to quotes for products with the wrong load ratings or material finishes.

Question 2

What happens if I search Household Merchandise for a fogging mist sanitizer?

Accepted Answer

You will find listings for household goods like linens or decor, not chemical products. A fogging mist sanitizer belongs in a different category, often under Chemicals or Sanitizers, because it requires safety data sheets and UN packaging codes. Searching Household Merchandise for this item yields irrelevant results for furniture and textiles. You must navigate to the correct sub-category for chemical or hygiene products to find sellers who can provide the necessary technical specifications and handling instructions for liquids.

Question 3

What packing details matter for furniture leaving Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

Furniture shipped from Switzerland must withstand alpine transit routes that involve temperature fluctuations and handling at rail terminals. Verify that the seller uses reinforced corner protectors and moisture-resistant wrapping. For large items, confirm if the furniture is shipped disassembled to reduce volume and damage risk. The packing method directly affects the landed cost and the condition of the goods upon arrival. Ask for photos of the packing process to ensure the items are secured for long-distance overland transport.

Question 4

Why can't I compare a quote for a sofa with one for a sanitizer?

Accepted Answer

These products have entirely different logistical and technical requirements. A sofa quote includes freight charges based on cubic volume and handling fees for bulky items. A sanitizer quote includes costs for hazardous material handling, specific container types, and compliance with chemical transport regulations. The price structures are incompatible because one involves physical goods and the other involves regulated liquids. You must source each product type separately to get accurate and comparable pricing.

Question 5

What technical data is missing from a generic furniture listing?

Accepted Answer

Generic listings often omit critical dimensions, material density, and fire safety ratings. For commercial furniture, the absence of load capacity data makes it impossible to verify suitability for office use. For residential items, missing fabric composition details prevent you from assessing durability and cleaning requirements. Always request a detailed specification sheet before submitting an enquiry. This ensures the seller can provide a quote for the exact configuration and material grade you require.

Question 6

How do I verify the origin of goods from Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

Swiss sellers provide specific export documentation that confirms the country of manufacture. Check the listing for mentions of Swiss manufacturing standards or local production facilities. The export paperwork must align with the product type, whether it is furniture or a household chemical. Verify that the seller can provide the necessary certificates of origin and compliance documents required by your destination market. This ensures the goods meet local regulatory standards for import.

Question 7

What should I check before ordering a sanitizer from this category?

Accepted Answer

Ensure the listing is in the correct sub-category for chemicals or hygiene products, not Household Merchandise. Verify that the seller provides a Safety Data Sheet and details on the active ingredients. Check the packaging type to confirm it is suitable for liquid transport and complies with international shipping regulations. Ask about the shelf life and storage requirements to ensure the product remains effective during transit and storage. This prevents receiving a product that is unsafe or non-compliant.
