Question 1

How does packing differ between tactical bulletproof helmets and disposable surgical masks?

Accepted Answer

Tactical bulletproof helmets require rigid, shock-absorbent packaging to prevent deformation during transit, often using molded foam inserts within sturdy cardboard or wooden crates. Disposable surgical masks are packed in sterile, sealed polyethylene bags within smaller cartons to maintain hygiene. The packaging materials and structural integrity requirements for these two items are entirely different, affecting freight class and handling instructions.

Question 2

What hazard declaration is needed for calcined petroleum coke from Sweden?

Accepted Answer

Calcined petroleum coke is a carbon-based material that may be classified as hazardous depending on its sulfur content and dust potential. Sellers must provide a Material Safety Data Sheet and confirm if the lot requires a Dangerous Goods Declaration for transport. This affects whether the goods can be shipped in standard containers or require specialized handling and labeling.

Question 3

Why can't you compare a quote for a metal tin first aid kit with one for plastic products?

Accepted Answer

A metal tin first aid kit is a finished consumer good subject to specific safety and labeling regulations, while plastic products range from raw pellets to molded components. The cost drivers differ: one relies on assembly and regulatory compliance, the other on resin prices and molding complexity. Comparing unit prices without aligning the scope of supply yields no useful data.

Question 4

What documentation does a seller of salted butter provide that a plastic manufacturer does not?

Accepted Answer

A seller of salted butter must provide health certificates and cold chain logistics records to prove the product remained within temperature limits during export. Plastic manufacturers provide material test reports and composition statements. The documentation for perishable food items focuses on bio-security and temperature history, which is irrelevant for non-perishable industrial plastics.

Question 5

How do you distinguish a listing for used MRI scanners from new fitness equipment?

Accepted Answer

Used MRI scanners require detailed maintenance logs, calibration certificates, and decommissioning paperwork to prove the device is safe for reinstallation. Fitness equipment listings focus on weight capacity, material durability, and assembly instructions. The regulatory and technical documentation for medical imaging devices is far more complex and legally binding than that for recreational sports goods.

Question 6

What goes wrong if you source automotive parts under the wrong branch?

Accepted Answer

Automotive parts often require specific homologation certificates and compliance with safety standards for vehicle integration. Sourcing them under a general branch may lead to listings that lack these critical certifications. You must verify that the seller understands the regulatory environment for vehicle components to avoid receiving parts that cannot be legally installed or insured.

Question 7

What specific inspection point matters for fuel resources versus paper products?

Accepted Answer

Fuel resources require quality analysis for density, viscosity, and sulfur content, often verified by independent surveyors at the loading port. Paper products require inspection for weight, moisture content, and surface smoothness. The testing methods and equipment used for these two categories are completely distinct, requiring different inspection agencies and protocols.
