Question 1

How do I distinguish between vacuum target sputtering alloy and copper mask material?

Accepted Answer

Vacuum target sputtering alloy is a high-purity metal or compound used in thin-film deposition, requiring precise chemical composition and crystal structure. Korean Copper Antibacterial Mask refers to a finished consumer good where copper is embedded in a substrate for antimicrobial properties. The former is an industrial raw material for semiconductor or optical manufacturing, while the latter is a fabricated retail product. Check the product description for application context to determine which branch of the category tree applies.

Question 2

What specification defines the value of ores listed under Ores and Minerals?

Accepted Answer

The value of ores is defined by their assay results, specifically the percentage of the target metal or element. Buyers must look for assay certificates that detail the grade, moisture content, and impurities. Unlike fabricated metals, the physical shape is irrelevant; the chemical concentration drives the price. Ensure the listing includes recent assay data, as old results may not reflect current shipment quality.

Question 3

Why does a quote for metal products differ from an ore quote?

Accepted Answer

Metal products quotes typically include fabrication costs, tolerances, and surface finishes, while ore quotes focus on tonnage, grade, and mining location. Metal products are sold by weight or unit with specific dimensional tolerances. Ores are sold by metric ton with price adjustments for purity. A buyer must ensure they are comparing like with like, as the pricing structures are fundamentally different.

Question 4

What packing difference separates bulk ores from fabricated metal products?

Accepted Answer

Bulk ores are typically shipped in loose bulk containers or bulk bags to minimize cost and handling. Fabricated metal products require protective packaging to prevent damage to precise shapes and surfaces. Ore shipments risk contamination from mixed loads, while metal products risk corrosion or physical deformation. The packing method dictates the handling equipment required at the destination port.

Question 5

What documentation is critical for alloy targets leaving South Korea?

Accepted Answer

Alloy targets require detailed mill test reports or chemical analysis certificates to verify purity and composition. Buyers must request these documents before finalizing a quote, as trace elements can affect performance in sputtering applications. The documentation must match the specific alloy grade ordered. Generic material safety data sheets are insufficient for technical verification of high-purity metals.

Question 6

How does moisture content affect ore pricing and handling?

Accepted Answer

Moisture content in ores reduces the effective weight of the dry metal content, directly impacting the landed cost. Buyers must specify whether the price is based on wet or dry tonnage. Excess moisture can also cause handling issues, such as clogging in chutes or increased shipping weight without added value. Assay results should always state the moisture baseline.

Question 7

What mistake occurs when sourcing copper products without checking the sub-branch?

Accepted Answer

Sourcing copper products under the wrong sub-branch often results in receiving scrap metal instead of pure wire or tubing, or vice versa. The sub-category determines whether the product is raw feedstock or a fabricated component. Buyers must verify the product form and intended use to ensure the seller is listing in the correct branch. Mismatches here lead to incompatible materials for manufacturing processes.
