How do I verify if the Apricot size matches my market need?

The listing title often omits the specific diameter range. Verify the caliper range in millimetres against your packing requirements. South Africa exporters use different grading scales, so a large Apricot in one listing might be medium in another. Ask the seller to confirm the size range in millimetres before you commit. This ensures the fruit meets your retail or processing standards.

What happens if the destination bans the specific Apricot variety listed?

Some countries restrict certain Apricot cultivars due to pest risks or local industry protection. You must check your national plant protection organization for prohibited varieties before placing an order. If the listed Apricot is banned, the shipment will be destroyed or returned at your expense. Confirm the varietal name on the row against your import restrictions to avoid total loss.

Why does the posting date matter for fresh Apricot availability?

Fresh Apricot has a short shelf life and a narrow harvest window. Inventory freshness matters for perishable fresh fruit shipments. An old row likely means the crop is gone or the price has changed. The seller may not even have the stock anymore. Always request a fresh quote based on the current posting date to ensure the Apricot is available.

Who pays for the truck from the packhouse to Durban port?

Freight responsibilities shift based on whether you choose FOB or CIF terms. If the listing uses FOB, you pay for the inland haulage from the farm to the port. If it uses EXW, you pay for everything from the packhouse door. The listing should state the incoterm. Clarify this before ordering to understand the true landed cost of the Apricot.

Can I mix Apricot with Apricot Nut in one container?

You cannot mix fresh Apricot with dried Apricot Nut in the same container. Fresh fruit requires cold chain logistics and emits ethylene gas, which would spoil the dried nuts. The listing for Apricot Nut is a separate category with different packaging and handling requirements. Keep these products in separate shipments to prevent cross-contamination and quality loss.

What proof of treatment is needed for the Apricot skin?

Many destinations require a phytosanitary certificate confirming the Apricot has undergone specific fumigation or cold treatment. The listing may not state which treatment was used. You must ask the seller for the treatment details that match your country's import protocol. Without this proof, customs will reject the shipment. Ensure the treatment method is written in the specification on the row.

Does packaging size impact the per-unit cost of South African apricots?

The unit of sale determines the price per kilogram or per carton. A price listed per pallet may look cheaper than per carton but includes more volume. You must compare the unit of sale across different listings to get an accurate cost. The order minimum also dictates the smallest batch you can buy. Calculate the total cost including the minimum order quantity to see the real price.
