How does the chemical assay in an Aluminum listing affect the payable weight?

The chemical assay determines the percentage of pure metal present in the lot, which directly sets the net payable weight after deductions for impurities. For materials like Aluminum UBC Scrap, the assay reveals the ratio of aluminum to other alloys or contaminants. Buyers pay for the recoverable metal content, so a lower purity score in the assay reduces the final invoice amount regardless of the gross tonnage shipped.

What does a mill test certificate verify for Zinc Dross shipments?

A mill test certificate provides the laboratory-verified chemical composition of the Zinc Dross lot, confirming the metal content matches the seller's claim. It serves as the primary document for quality acceptance at the destination port, proving that the material meets the required alloy or standard designation. Without this certificate, the buyer cannot reliably calculate the recoverable value or process the material in their foundry.

Why does scrap-contamination screening matter for Printed BOPP Scrap?

Printed BOPP Scrap is often mixed with other materials, so radiation and scrap-contamination screening proves the lot contains only the declared polymer type. This screening detects non-compliant waste or mixed plastics that would cause the entire container to be rejected or destroyed by destination authorities. It ensures the material is clean enough for recycling or reprocessing without causing environmental violations.

How does density decide between break-bulk and container for Copper Granules?

Copper Granules have a high density that often causes the shipping container to reach its maximum weight limit before it is physically full. This means you pay for the weight capacity rather than the volume capacity, making standard containers cost-effective. If the material were lighter, you might fill the volume first and pay for air, but density ensures you maximize the weight allowance for these heavy metals.

What distinguishes a Zinc Ash quote from a Zinc Dross quote?

Zinc Ash is a finer, more processed byproduct with a different chemical assay profile compared to the coarser Zinc Dross. The assay results for Zinc Ash typically show higher impurity levels or different alloy ratios, which changes the recovery process and final value. Buyers must treat these as distinct products because the handling equipment and refining methods required for each are not interchangeable.

How does the mineral export licence impact the shipping timeline?

A valid mineral export licence is required by the origin authorities to release the metal products from the port of loading. If the licence is missing or does not match the specific lot details, the container is held at the origin, delaying the shipment indefinitely. This document is the first checkpoint in the paperwork chain, so any error here stops the physical movement of goods before they reach the vessel.

Why must an enquiry specify the alloy or standard designation?

The alloy or standard designation defines the exact metallurgical properties of the Metal & Metal Products, which dictates the price and usability. Without this specific term, the seller cannot provide an accurate quote because different alloys have vastly different market values and processing requirements. Including this term ensures the reply matches your technical needs and avoids receiving quotes for incompatible materials.
