Question 1

How do I distinguish between a listing for raw timber and one for finished window frames?

Accepted Answer

The sub-category is your primary filter. Raw timber appears under Wood and Lumber, while finished joinery items often fall under Building Material & Equipment or Heating, Air Conditioner & Ventilation if they include glazing. Listings for raw materials will list dimensions like thickness and length. Finished products will specify dimensions like width and height. Always check the sub-category label first to avoid receiving quotes for incompatible goods.

Question 2

What is the critical specification for wood that determines its usability in construction?

Accepted Answer

Moisture content is the defining factor for wood shipped from Romania. Sellers must state the percentage, which dictates whether the timber is suitable for interior joinery or exterior structural use. High moisture leads to warping and shrinkage after installation. A quote that omits this percentage is incomplete. Verify the moisture limit matches your local building codes before proceeding.

Question 3

How does the export route from Romania affect the cost of glass and ceramics?

Accepted Answer

Fragile goods like glass and ceramics are sensitive to vibration and shock during transit. Sea freight through Black Sea ports is common but requires robust palletizing. Overland transport via land borders may involve more handling points. Ask the seller which route they propose. The packing method must be specified to prevent breakage. Cheaper freight is often offset by higher insurance costs for damaged goods.

Question 4

What documentation does Romania issue for scrap electric motor exports?

Accepted Answer

Scrap electric motors are classified as waste or recovered material under EU regulations. The seller must provide a waste shipment notice or equivalent export declaration. This paperwork is mandatory for customs clearance in the destination country. Without it, the shipment will be rejected. Ensure the listing explicitly mentions compliance with waste trade rules rather than generic metal scrap terms.

Question 5

Why do quotes for heating systems vary so widely in Construction & real estate listings?

Accepted Answer

Heating systems include boilers, radiators, and ventilation units, each with different energy ratings. Sellers list power output in kilowatts or BTUs. A quote for a residential unit is not comparable to one for industrial ventilation. Check the energy efficiency class and the type of fuel or electricity required. Misalignment in technical specs leads to incompatible equipment for your project.

Question 6

What packing detail is missing from thin Building Material & Equipment listings?

Accepted Answer

Thin listings often omit the weight and dimensions of individual packages. This information is critical for calculating container loading and freight costs. Heavy hardware like steel fixtures can exceed container limits if packed inefficiently. Request a packing list with gross weight and cube measurements. Without these details, your logistics team cannot plan the shipment accurately.

Question 7

How do I verify if a wood listing is for structural or decorative use?

Accepted Answer

Look for grading marks or standard references in the description. Structural timber usually cites specific load-bearing standards. Decorative lumber focuses on grain pattern and surface finish. Sellers may use trade-specific grades that indicate strength class. If the listing lacks these terms, assume it is for general use. Confirm the intended application with the seller to ensure structural integrity.
