How do I verify the clarity grade listed for a Blue Sapphire Gemstone in a listing?

The listing title rarely states the specific clarity grade, so you must request a recent laboratory report or high-resolution images showing inclusions. Blue Sapphire clarity is assessed by the visibility of silk or other internal features under magnification. Do not rely on the visual appearance in standard photos, as lighting can mask significant inclusions that affect the stone's value and durability.

What hallmarking rules apply to gold jewellery from Pakistan for European buyers?

European destinations typically require the gold purity to be stamped with the official hallmark indicating the karat weight, such as eighteen karat or twenty-two karat. The seller must provide a certificate from an authorized assaying center that matches the stamp on the jewellery. Without this physical mark and corresponding documentation, the goods will likely be held at customs for verification.

Why does the setting and finish matter for Onyx Gemstones in jewellery?

Onyx is often used in cabochon cuts where the polish and edge finish determine the final aesthetic quality. A poor setting can expose the stone to chipping during wear, especially if the metal prongs are not properly secured. Buyers should inspect images for smooth transitions between the stone and the metal setting to ensure durability and visual appeal.

What treatment disclosure must a buyer check for Ruby Gemstones before ordering?

Rubies are frequently treated with glass filling or heat treatment to improve color and clarity. The seller must explicitly state if any such treatments have been applied, as untreated stones command a significantly higher price. Failure to disclose this information can lead to disputes over the stone's long-term stability and market value.

How does secure carriage affect the total cost of shipping Gems & Jewellery?

Because the goods are high-value and low-weight, standard freight rates are negligible compared to the cost of specialized security measures. Insurance premiums and bonded transport services form the bulk of the landed cost. Buyers should expect the shipping quote to include these security elements rather than just base freight charges.

What documentation is needed for the Kimberley Process when exporting rough stones?

The Kimberley Process Certificate is mandatory for any rough diamonds to prevent the trade in conflict stones. While other gems like Jade or Onyx do not fall under this scheme, any diamond content requires this specific paperwork. The seller must generate this certificate through the official national authority before the goods leave the country.

How do two listings for the same type of Ruby differ in value?

Two rows for Ruby Gemstones may look similar but differ in carat weight, cut precision, and the presence of heat treatment. The metal purity of the setting also affects the total value, as higher karat gold increases the cost. Buyers must compare these specific attributes rather than relying on the generic product name to understand the price difference.
