Question 1

How do I distinguish between lithium ore and other mineral concentrates in the Minerals & metals branch?

Accepted Answer

The Minerals and metals branch contains distinct sub-categories for different ore types. You must check the chemical composition listed in the product details. Spodumene has a specific lithium content that differs from other lithium-bearing minerals. Confusing these grades leads to incorrect pricing and processing issues at the refinery. Always verify the elemental breakdown before placing an order.

Question 2

What happens if I source cassava from the wrong category in Niger?

Accepted Answer

Selecting the wrong sub-category often results in receiving unprocessed tubers instead of flour or chips. Cassava products vary significantly in moisture content and preparation method. A listing labeled as flour may actually contain raw starch or dried slices. Checking the physical description prevents receiving a product that your factory cannot process. Always confirm the state of the goods with the seller.

Question 3

Why do transit delays affect the landed cost of goods from Niger?

Accepted Answer

Niger is landlocked, meaning all exports must cross borders to reach a port. Each border crossing introduces potential delays for customs inspection and documentation checks. These delays increase storage fees and demurrage charges at the destination port. Understanding the transit route helps you anticipate these extra costs and adjust your budget accordingly.

Question 4

What specific document is required for bitter kola shipments from Niger?

Accepted Answer

Bitter kola is an agricultural product that requires a phytosanitary certificate to enter most countries. This document certifies that the nuts are free from pests and diseases. Without it, the shipment may be rejected or destroyed at the destination port. Ensure the seller provides this certificate before making any payment. The certificate must be issued by the national plant protection organization of Niger.

Question 5

How does the form of palm kernel shell charcoal differ from other charcoals?

Accepted Answer

Palm kernel shell charcoal is denser and burns hotter than wood-based charcoal. It is often used in industrial applications requiring high heat. Listings may describe it by its ash content or calorific value. These specifications determine its suitability for your specific use case. Do not assume all charcoals perform the same way in your furnace.

Question 6

What should I verify about kolanut powder before paying a deposit?

Accepted Answer

Kolanut powder quality varies based on the source nuts and milling process. You must verify the particle size and color consistency. Some listings may include additives or fillers that are not disclosed. Request a sample to test the solubility and flavor profile. Only pay a deposit after confirming the sample matches the commercial batch specifications.

Question 7

Why is an assay report critical for spodumene purchases from Niger?

Accepted Answer

The value of spodumene is directly tied to its lithium oxide content. An assay report from an independent laboratory verifies this percentage. Sellers may quote based on estimated grades, but the final price is often adjusted based on the actual assay. Relying on unverified grades can lead to significant financial loss. Always insist on a third-party assay for the specific lot you are buying.
