How does the chemical assay in a Fluorspar listing affect the payable price?

The chemical assay, specifically the percentage of calcium fluoride, sets the base value. Impurities like silica or iron oxide reduce the payable price because the buyer pays for the usable component, not the total weight. A listing must state the assay percentage clearly, as this number is the primary driver of the landed cost.

What specific radiation data must accompany an Ores and Minerals shipment from Mauritius?

Destination markets often require proof that the material does not contain naturally occurring radioactive materials above safe thresholds. The seller should provide a radiation screening certificate issued by an accredited laboratory. Without this document, customs authorities at the destination port may hold the cargo indefinitely or order its return.

Why is the mineral export licence critical for Ores and Minerals from Mauritius?

The mineral export licence is the legal authorization for the cargo to leave the country. It confirms that the seller has complied with local mining and export regulations. Without this licence, the shipping line will not release the cargo, and the buyer will bear the cost of demurrage and storage at the port of origin.

How does ash or silica content impact the weight calculation for Fluorspar?

Ash and silica are considered inert impurities that do not contribute to the product's value. Buyers typically pay for the net weight of the pure mineral component. If the ash or silica content is high, the payable weight decreases, effectively increasing the price per unit of usable material in the shipment.

What happens if the moisture content exceeds the limit in a Fluorspar contract?

Excess moisture adds dead weight to the shipment, which the buyer still has to pay for. Most contracts specify a maximum moisture percentage, such as eight percent. If the measured moisture exceeds this limit, the seller may be required to dry the material or accept a price deduction for the water weight.

Does the particle size distribution affect the handling costs for Ores and Minerals?

Yes, the particle size distribution determines how the material is loaded and discharged. Fine powders may require special bagging or dust suppression, while lump sizes need specific handling equipment to avoid breakage. These factors influence the freight rate and the insurance premium, as improper handling can lead to significant product loss.

What scrap-contamination screening is required for recycled metal ores in this trade lane?

Buyers must ensure the material is free from non-mineral waste, such as plastic or metal scraps. A scrap-contamination screening report verifies the purity of the batch. Contamination can lead to rejection at the destination, as it interferes with the smelting process and increases disposal costs for the buyer.
