Question 1

How do I distinguish between fabricated metal items and raw ores in the listings?

Accepted Answer

Look for keywords indicating processing level. Metal & Metal Products often include terms like scrap, tubes, or fabricated forms. Ores and Minerals list raw materials like concentrate or raw stone. The sub-category selection in the filter is the primary divider. If unsure, check the product description for assay requirements versus physical dimensions.

Question 2

What specific detail is often missing from electric motor scrap listings?

Accepted Answer

Listings for electric motor scrap frequently omit the copper content percentage or the presence of insulation materials. This affects the smelting yield and final price. You must ask for the elemental breakdown or the expected recovery rate before accepting a quote. Without this, the landed cost is unpredictable.

Question 3

Why does a quote for PET bottle scrap differ from ore pricing?

Accepted Answer

PET bottle scrap pricing depends heavily on color separation, flake size, and moisture content. Ore pricing relies on metal grade and impurity penalties. The two goods have completely different quality control metrics. A buyer cannot use the same evaluation criteria for both branches of this category.

Question 4

What paper trail confirms the origin of ores leaving Malaysia?

Accepted Answer

Ores require specific export declarations and often assay certificates from independent laboratories. These documents prove the chemical composition matches the contract. Without them, destination customs may reject the shipment or impose heavy fines. Ensure the seller provides the original assay report, not just a summary.

Question 5

How does packing differ for banana powder versus metal scrap?

Accepted Answer

Banana powder requires moisture-proof, food-grade packaging to prevent spoilage and contamination. Metal scrap like alternator scrap is often packed in bulk bags or loose in containers. The handling equipment and storage conditions are entirely different. Mixing these up leads to product degradation or safety violations.

Question 6

What mistake happens when sourcing PET flakes without checking purity?

Accepted Answer

Buyers often assume flakes are clean and dry. In reality, labels, adhesives, and residual liquid can ruin the recycling process. This leads to rejected batches at the processing plant. Always request a sample analysis for contaminants before committing to a large order. The listing title rarely states the purity level.

Question 7

Why is the sub-branch choice critical for verifying export readiness?

Accepted Answer

Ores and Minerals often face stricter environmental regulations and export controls than fabricated metals. Sellers in the wrong branch may lack the necessary permits for their specific goods. Verifying the sub-category ensures the seller is legally allowed to export that specific type of material from Malaysia.
