Question 1

How do you distinguish between structural timber and decorative wood products in the Lebanon listings?

Accepted Answer

Check the sub-category selection first. Listings under Wood and Lumber specify structural grades, moisture limits, and treatment types for outdoor use. Decorative veneers or furniture-grade wood often appear in Glass & Ceramics Related Products or Building Material & Equipment if they are finished components. The listing title rarely states the grade, so you must ask for the specific timber standard before proceeding.

Question 2

What happens if you source Glass & Ceramics Related Products under Building Material & Equipment?

Accepted Answer

You will encounter listings for hardware, fasteners, or mechanical fixtures rather than tiles or sanitary ware. The packing requirements for heavy ceramics differ entirely from metal hardware. Sellers in the wrong branch will not provide the necessary impact-resistant packaging specifications. This mismatch leads to quotes that cannot be compared for landed cost.

Question 3

What documentation is required for manual stretch film exports from Lebanon?

Accepted Answer

Stretch film is a polymer product that requires specific export declarations for synthetic materials. The seller must provide a certificate of origin that matches the material composition. Packaging must be sealed to prevent moisture absorption during transit. Without clear material safety data, customs may hold the shipment at the port of entry.

Question 4

How does packing for ice lolly tubes differ from bulk building materials?

Accepted Answer

Ice lolly tubes are small, hollow plastic items that require dense cartoning to prevent deformation. Bulk building materials often ship in open racks or loose containers. The seller must specify the carton strength and stacking limits for tubes. Inadequate packing leads to crushed units that fail quality inspection upon arrival.

Question 5

Why do quotes for easy peel die cut lidding vary so much?

Accepted Answer

The variation stems from the adhesive type and foil layer thickness. Sellers must state the peel strength and barrier properties for food safety compliance. Listings often omit the specific polymer grade used in the lidding. You need to request the technical data sheet to compare quotes accurately, as generic terms do not reflect the actual material performance.

Question 6

What specification is hidden when a wood listing lacks treatment details?

Accepted Answer

Without treatment details, you cannot determine if the timber is suitable for outdoor exposure or structural load bearing. Lebanese wood exports often require specific preservative applications to meet international standards. The absence of this detail means the seller may be listing untreated raw timber. Always request the treatment certificate before finalizing any order.

Question 7

How do you verify the structural integrity of timber from this category?

Accepted Answer

Look for references to specific grading rules used in the Lebanese timber industry. The listing should state the species, moisture content, and bending strength class. Sellers who do not provide these details are likely trading generic lumber. Request a sample or mill certificate to verify the actual structural properties before placing a large order.
