How does the active content percentage change the price per tonne for a technical grade?

A higher active content percentage usually commands a premium because the manufacturing process requires more refined raw materials and tighter quality control. You must compare the assay results directly because a lower percentage might hide impurities that increase your disposal costs or require additional processing at your facility. The price difference reflects the purity level you receive in the drum or IBC.

Why does the destination format of the safety data sheet matter for clearance?

Customs authorities in the destination country reject shipments if the safety data sheet does not follow their specific regulatory format. A mismatch in the hazard communication sections can halt the clearance process until the seller provides a corrected document. This delay adds storage fees and risks missing the planting season for agricultural inputs.

What is the difference between a drum and an IBC for landed cost calculation?

An IBC offers a lower freight cost per tonne because it uses less packaging material and maximizes container volume compared to individual drums. However, drums may be required if the buyer lacks the equipment to handle bulk IBC discharge at the destination. The choice between drum and IBC directly impacts the total landed cost by changing the volumetric weight charged by the carrier.

How does the CAS identity prevent buying the wrong pesticide formulation?

The CAS identity provides a unique numerical identifier for the chemical substance, ensuring you are not misled by a generic product name. Two listings might use the same trade name but contain different active ingredients or isomers that have vastly different efficacy and safety profiles. Verifying the CAS number protects you from receiving a product that does not match your registration or application requirements.

Why do dangerous-goods booking spaces expire faster than standard cargo?

Vessels have a limited capacity for hazardous materials based on safety regulations and the physical segregation required on deck or in hold. When feedstock prices fluctuate, buyers rush to secure space, but the number of slots available for hazardous cargo does not increase proportionally. A quote stale because of booking space reflects a logistical bottleneck that is independent of the product price itself.

What role does the impurity profile play in the final invoice amount?

An impurity profile that exceeds the agreed specification can lead to price deductions or rejection of the lot upon arrival at the destination port. Buyers often negotiate a price based on a typical impurity level, but the actual invoice may be adjusted if the lab results show higher levels of unwanted contaminants. This adjustment compensates for the extra handling or disposal costs the buyer must absorb.

How does the hazard class limit the choice of shipping vessels?

Certain vessels are not certified to carry specific hazard classes, which restricts the number of available sailings from Kenya. You may face higher freight rates because the limited vessel options reduce competition among carriers for that specific booking. This constraint makes it essential to confirm vessel acceptance before finalizing the commercial terms.
