Question 1

How do I distinguish a Ball Valve specification from a Cross listing?

Accepted Answer

A Ball Valve requires pressure rating, seat material, and connection type details that do not apply to a Cross, which is a structural fitting. The valve listing must specify the fluid medium and operating temperature range. Without these mechanical parameters, a quote is meaningless. You must open the Automobile & Auto Accessories branch to find these technical fields, as Gifts & Decorative listings never carry this engineering data.

Question 2

What packing detail distinguishes Fuel & Energy Resources from Paper & Paper Products?

Accepted Answer

Fuel & Energy Resources requires sealed containers with specific hazard labeling and inert gas padding to prevent degradation. Paper & Paper Products need moisture-proof wrapping and palletization to prevent warping during transit. The packing material itself indicates the sub-branch. If the listing mentions drums or ISO tanks, it is fuel. If it mentions cartons or bales, it is paper. Confusing these leads to wrong handling fees.

Question 3

Why does a quote for a Light Duty Manhole Cover lack load class data?

Accepted Answer

Manhole covers are filed under miscellaneous items that often omit the specific load class required by local building codes. A Light Duty cover must state its load bearing capacity in tons or kilonewtons. Without this number, you cannot determine if it fits your site. You must ask the seller for the exact load rating before assuming the listing meets your engineering requirements.

Question 4

What documentation does Jamaica issue for Fuel exports that other branches do not?

Accepted Answer

Fuel exports require specific safety data sheets and tank cleaning certificates that are irrelevant to Fitness Equipment or Gifts. The paperwork chain for energy resources is stricter due to flammability. Other branches like Medical & HealthCare require sterility proofs instead. You must request the specific export permit for energy products to ensure the quote includes the correct logistical costs for hazardous goods.

Question 5

How does the sub-branch dictate the inspection point for a Fitness Equipment order?

Accepted Answer

Fitness Equipment inspections focus on structural integrity and safety warnings, which differ from the chemical tests required for Medical items. The inspection protocol is tied directly to the sub-branch you selected. If you browse under Miscellaneous, you will not see these specific checklists. You must drill into the Fitness Equipment & Sports Goods branch to find the relevant safety standards.

Question 6

What is the costliest wrong assumption when sourcing Ball Valves under Gifts & Decorative?

Accepted Answer

Assuming a Ball Valve listed under Gifts & Decorative meets industrial pressure standards is a fatal error. This branch typically lists decorative fixtures, not functional plumbing components. The material grade and pressure rating will be absent. You will receive a quote for a non-functional item that cannot withstand your system pressure. Always verify the functional specifications in the correct technical branch.

Question 7

How do you verify the origin of a Cross fitting from this category?

Accepted Answer

A Cross fitting's origin is often hidden in generic listings under Miscellaneous. You must check the material certification to confirm if it is stainless steel or brass. The listing title alone does not indicate the metal grade or country of manufacture. You must ask the seller for the material test report to ensure the fitting meets your corrosion resistance requirements.
