How does particle size distribution affect handling of Bauxite shipments?

Bauxite with a wide size range can cause blockages in conveyor chutes and hoppers. Buyers must specify the maximum lump size and the percentage of fines allowed in the specification. If the shipped material exceeds the agreed size limit, it may require expensive secondary crushing at the destination port before it can be processed in the smelter.

What radiation data is required for Fluorspar entering strict markets?

Fluorspar often occurs alongside other minerals that may contain trace radioactive elements. Destination authorities require gamma spectrometry data to prove radiation levels are within safe limits. Without this specific screening data from the mine or processing plant, customs will hold the shipment indefinitely, incurring demurrage fees.

Why does moisture content change the payable weight for Copper Ore?

Copper Ore is often shipped with surface moisture that does not contain copper value. Buyers deduct the weight of this water from the gross tonnage to calculate the net payable weight. High moisture levels also increase the risk of liquefaction during sea transit, which can endanger the vessel.

How does scrap contamination impact Barite Ore clearance?

Barite Ore is used in drilling fluids, where even small amounts of ferrous scrap can ruin the chemical balance. Inspectors screen for metallic debris and foreign objects before the lot is loaded. If scrap contamination is found, the entire shipment may be rejected or require costly washing and sorting at the buyer's expense.

When does a quote for Nickel lose its value?

Nickel prices track global exchanges that update continuously during trading hours. A quote is usually valid for only a short window, often just twenty-four hours. If you delay booking or negotiating terms, the new market rate will replace the old quote, potentially increasing your landed cost significantly.

Do I pay for weight or volume when shipping Iron and steel?

Iron and steel products are dense, so you typically pay for the actual weight. However, if you ship lighter steel products in containers, volumetric weight might apply. Check the stowage factor to see if the cargo fills the container by mass or by space before you finalize the freight booking.

What documentation proves the grade of Nickel shipments?

A mill test certificate details the exact chemical assay and physical properties of the Nickel lot. This document must match the specification in your purchase order exactly. Buyers should verify the assay results against independent laboratory tests before releasing payment to ensure they receive the grade they paid for.
