Question 1

How do I distinguish between SHEA CAKE/MEAL filed in Agriculture versus Industrial goods?

Accepted Answer

The distinction lies in the intended use and processing level. Agricultural listings describe the raw cake intended for animal feed or further oil extraction, often noting fat content and protein levels. Industrial listings may describe the same material after it has been processed or refined for cosmetic or pharmaceutical applications. Check the specification section for keywords like crude, refined, or feed grade to determine which branch applies.

Question 2

What happens if I file a query for Annatto seeds under Minerals?

Accepted Answer

The listing will not appear in the relevant results because the categories are strictly segregated by physical nature. Annatto seeds are botanical products and belong in Agriculture or Food. If you search under Minerals, you will only see metallic ores and concentrates. You must select the correct branch to see any available botanical listings, as sellers file their products in only one primary category.

Question 3

Why does the moisture percentage matter more than the seed size for Akuamma?

Accepted Answer

Moisture content directly impacts the shelf life and storage requirements of dried botanicals like Akuamma seeds. High moisture levels invite mold and mycotoxin growth, which can render the entire lot unusable for medicinal or culinary purposes. Buyers should prioritize the stated moisture percentage over visual size descriptions, as the latter is subjective while the former is a hard specification.

Question 4

What specific document does the Ghana Export Promotion Authority issue for botanicals?

Accepted Answer

The national plant protection authority issues the phytosanitary certificate, which is mandatory for most agricultural exports. This certificate verifies that the consignment has been inspected and is free from quarantine pests. Buyers must ensure this document is included in the shipping pack, as its absence will likely cause the shipment to be rejected at the destination border.

Question 5

How does the form of Crude Kombo Butter affect the shipping method?

Accepted Answer

Crude Kombo Butter is often semi-solid or liquid at ambient temperatures, which requires careful temperature management during transit. If the butter is not fully solidified, it may require lined containers to prevent leakage and staining of other cargo. Buyers should confirm the physical state and packaging type, as standard open-top containers may not be suitable for liquid or semi-liquid fats.

Question 6

Which field on a listing for Bitter Kola is the most critical to verify?

Accepted Answer

The origin district and the harvest date are the most critical fields to verify. Bitter Kola quality varies significantly by region and degrades quickly after drying. A listing without a clear harvest date or specific growing region lacks the traceability needed for quality assurance. Buyers should request this information directly from the seller to ensure the product meets their quality standards.

Question 7

How should I word an enquiry for Annatto seeds to get a comparable quote?

Accepted Answer

Specify the desired oil content percentage, the maximum allowable moisture level, and the packaging requirements in your first message. Asking for a quote without these parameters will result in generic responses that cannot be compared. By defining the technical specifications upfront, you force the seller to provide a price based on the exact quality tier you require.
